NY can start a rebuilt (real tanking without Porzingis) they will have two high lottery picks so they could draft Doncic and Porter in next year's draft.

Cleveland getting way too much.

Why does Portland do this?

Cleveland is getting to much, but i think this trade would make Portland a better team. The combo K Love+ Nurkic would be great. And IT could be an awesome sixth man in that team.

And NY should go for a total rebuilt. They would win 35-40 games with Porzingis, so they can't draft a great player and they can't sign a bigg free agent. This could make Porzingis unhappy. Trading him for the Nets pick, gives their own pick more value.
Tanking is the best way to create a superteam. They could end up with the two top picks and draft Porter and Doncic. And they could draft Barret the year after.

This could be a contender by 2023
C: Collins
PF: Zigic
SF :Porter
SG: Barret
PG: Doncic.

I hate it for Portland. You can’t bring Thomas off the bench, but Lillard and Thomas would be a train wreck defensively. I think I’d rather go for porzingis if I’m Portland, offering McCollum, Collins, and a pick.

@BMiller

The Knicks should go for a rebuilt, not trade a young star for an older star.

CJ is 26, which I would not consider old. Throw in Collins and a 1st, and I would not mind moving Zinger for that.

Kris is obviously not going to be a bust, but I'm not sold on him taking the next step towards Super Stardom. I'm not a fan of his "opportunistic" defense (block or bust) and I'm a kitten concerned with his overall drive to continue his improvement. I hope I'm wrong, and I very much may be proven to be, but it would not shock me if he spends his career putting up 18, 8 and two block stat lines while making just one or two all-star games.

comme on Triangle.

McCollum is 26, they already have Ntilikina.
They would still win 35-40 games
They still can't sign another big free agent and they still stay mediocre.
If NY trades Porzingis, it should be for younger players and draft picks.
It's the only way to create a superteam and become a contender.

I agree Gusapo, if I’m the Knicks I go young, gets picks, and build through the draft. The problem is that Nolan is the lease patient owner in the NBA. A move like this would be typical Knicks.

In retrospect, I also probably wouldn’t pay that high of a price for Porzingis that I said. I think he and McCollum are very similar overall.

26 is young Gasupo, and McCollum is not a PG.

im a fan of por moving mccollum if you can improve the team, but IT is not the guy to do it for. i see no way him and dame can work in an offense together (and let's not even get into defense)
i would need a top level wing to move cj.
on paper the cavs are getting a steal here, but i'd hesitate to shake up the team this much, especially if u need to speed up porzingis star development on a contender. and i think wade and jr are just fine for their 2 rotation.

Disagree that McCollum isn’t a PG. He’s probably more natural at point, even if he doesn’t have amazing passing skills, defensively he is much better at point. And in Cleveland, he wouldn’t be the main ball handler anyway, Lebron would be. he'd be a perfect fit at point on that team.

26 isn't young for a rebuilding team.

McCollum is the perfect pointguard for Cleveland.

The only team that should hesitate is Portland. Giving up the pick.
The reason they do this, is K Love, not IT
the trio K Love-Nurkic- D Lillard could make the western finals. IT is jus a bonus, he's hurt for the moment. So everyting he does is extra. He could become a good sixth man, playing against lesser players. And Lillard can rest enough, because they have a great second pointguard, that can score.
