Portland: I. Thomas, Crowder,Brooklyn 1st rd. Pick

Cavs:Lillard

Cleveland can score with the warriors, D.rose can heal. Portland gets defensive toughness, and a pick.

Cavs pass as long as they think IT can be 100 percent by the end of the year. First they would need to add a little less than 10 million dollars to the trade to match salaries. 2nd though I think Lillard is the better of the 2, he doesn't give the team anything that a healthy IT can. He's a little bit better shooter, but It is good shooter and he is a little better defender, but still terrible. Swapping Love or It and the Brooklyn pick for a marginally better player, isn't going to give the Cavs a significantly better chance to get past the Warriors, so why do it. Not to mention that the Cavs need Crowder's perimeter defense against the Warriors far more than the slight bump in offense that they would get in this trade.

I meant to include Thompson, and Vonleh for salary match. Portland has 12mil trade exception, so Cleveland could offload baggage as well maybe. It was a long shot. Portland needs defensive help badly. That pick swap with Cleveland last season, for this season, was the dumbest thing beside drafting Sam Bowie in 86' I have seen Portland do.

I don't think the Cavs will try to dump salary unless they end up either getting in the trade or atleast getting back equal value. The Cavs aren't a great defensive team and I doubt they want to lose any of the defenders they have. Shumpert might be moved, but until the deadline, I don't think they'll move him in a salary dump in case they need his contract to match salaries in a big deal.

Have you watched Lillard this year Rkenne? He’s a plus defender. Even at his worst, Thomas was worse. But now, Lillard is a solid defender.

Also, Lillard is on a better contract than Thomas, so his value is unquestionably higher. Portland passes without question, they could get much more for Lillard.

comme on rkenne.
Lillard would be great in Cleveland.
It's like getting Irving back.

Lillard is getting credit for being in passing lanes and picking up steals. Analytics don't tell the story on how easily Lillard is picked off on the weakest of screens. It's not easy to watch considering his salary. There may be improvement to be had for Mccollum, but he isn't much better. Not a better passer, or ball handler than Lillard. For sure. Just a little bigger is all Mccolum has going for him.
