The Cavs get Kemba and Batum

The Hornets get Zizic, Jr Smith(buyout), Hill(waive), the Cavs 2021 1st top 5 protected, the Cavs 2023 1st top 10 protected and a 2nd

The Cavs get a replacement for Irving and Batum who can play the role that Jeff Green does, guarding longer scorer, and being a facilitator at times with the added bonuses that he's a fairly consistent shooter. The Cavs also get to keep the Brooklyn pick.

For the Hornets they get 2 1sts and Zizic who has flashed the ability to be a rotation big. All nice secondary pieces to go along with their picks and young players for a rebuild. Most importantly, they can buy out both Smith and Hill, who have little guaranteed money in the last year of their contracts that they could more than make up in a contract after a buyout making it smart for them to accept a buyout. Batum's contract is awful. Getting out of it without giving up assets would be huge for a rebuilding team. Also, with all the good pgs in the league, Kemba might not have the value other allstars do. There just isn't a demand for pgs.

1 sided trade without nets pick. Hill has 37 mil and Jr Smitb 30mil guarenteed. But to release them for meaningless picks in their immediate plan, you want them to rebuild for 2 more years. Smh.

Hill after this season has 19 million Guaranteed that season and 1 million the next. If the trade happened early, he'd be dumb not to take a decent amount less (say 15 million) to make the buyout happen quickly so he can go and try to get a multiyear MLE or even try to get a multi year deal with a team like the Pacers or Philly who could use his shooting and defense plus have the cap space to give him a decent pay check. Jr has 13 million guaranteed next year, but only 4 million the year after. If they can buy him out at just the 13 million, he may be able to go out and make a little more between what he would make from a team the year of and after the buy out.

Look the Hornets have a few pieces that they can start to rebuild around in Kamisky, Monk, Hernangomez, this year's pick, and even some of their older guys that are still only in their mid 20s, but they need to start tanking and finding some building blocks. Maybe, those two picks only help them as trade fodder once they start to come out of the rebuild or maybe it's something like Boston or Philly where they have their major pieces in place and now they have these lottery picks that they can be flexible or maybe it's like Phoenix and the rebuild is taking longer than they thought, but those picks are more shots at adding talent or moving around in the draft to get the players they believe in. I really don't think 3 solid rebuilding assets, dumping one of the worst contracts in the league, and opening up over 30 million dollars is a bad package for a borderline allstars at a stacked position in today's NBA. How many buyers need a pg right now? Cleveland, maybe the Spurs (who are probably going to be cautious with future assets this summer given Kawhi), maybe Denver though with their shooters and playing through Jokic I'm not sure they need a traditional point, the Pacers, Utah, and possibly the Clippers, though they might be more likely to tear the team down to the studs and trust the process. So let's say the Pacers, Utah and the Cavs are the only 3 really in the race. The Pacers have a ton of cap room, have a young core, and don't want to trade away young pieces to win now. That hampers what they're willing to offer. The Jazz seem to be ok with Rubio and they still have Exum who will be a restricted free agent so he can't be traded and probably would g be committed to if Walker comes. With a young team they probably won't commit to Batum's ridiculous contract, they also won't want Dwight as he'd be impossible to play with Gobert. So they won't take on bad money. That leaves maybe Alex Burk or Rubio plus their 1st this year and maybe the Thunder's 1st that they own? I know the picks are sooner, but the Cavs picks have a little more upside and getting out of Batum's contract is huge. I'm not saying a surprise team couldn't come muddy the waters, but Kemba isn't a player on say Irving, George or Butler's level. He isn't getting a top ten pick plus more young talent. The deal will probably look a lot more like what the Clippers got for Griffin and I would say my Cavs proposal is probably better than that.

Shizzee look them both up on Spotrac where they actually break down the contracts.
Hill's contract 17/ 18 20 mill 19 19 mill 20 18 mill with 1 mill guaranteed.
Smith's contract 17/ 18 13.7 million 19 14.7 million 20 15.7 million with 3.9 million guaranteed
If you're going to get cranky atleast use a reliable site when it comes to contracts. Getting to clear Batum's contract is huge. After this year, it has 4 years left and in the last season he's making 28 million dollars. The Cavs would have to absolutely love Kemba to be willing to take that on.

Spotrac shows partial guarantees for both Hill and Smith. Hill is 1 million for his final year, Smith is 3.8 million.

Hill had 20 guaranteed after this season over a two year period.

Jr Smith has 18 guaranteed after this season in two years.
