Spurs and Heat trade:

Spurs get Hassan Whiteside, Justise Winslow

Heat get: Pau Gasol, Patty Mills, Toronto 2019 1st pick (protected)

Both teams are capped out for 2019 free agency barring big moves, so this deal means they are set for two years.

Spurs get rebounder and rim protector and backup SF in Winslow on rookie deal. This deal would make SA contenders for the next two years.

Heat get rid of Whiteshide and his contract. Attitude problems stem from too many centers. Heat can concentrate on Olynick and Adabayo, Gasol can play PF and won't pout about playing time. Heat only have 1 PG on their roster. Mills is top tier backup PG. They also get Toronto's pick in 2019, unless they fold or Kawhi doesn't play.

I think it is an ok deal could be better, but might could happen. I do t think the spurs would want Whiteside though. I don't think Whiteside and Aldridge in the locker room together would be a good idea.

Spurs won't give that puck.

I think pop would kick Whiteside to the kerbside no more trades happening with spurs.

Thanks for the comments. I just have a few thoughts on your objections to this deal.

Spurs owe it to LMA to be competitive. This deal would be largely for his benefit. Spurs are not competitive with Gasol as starting center and Poeltl is not ready for that role yet. Aldridge is a quiet leader and would get along with just about anyone who helps the team. Whiteside's complaints with Heat are about playing time. He would get lot's of playing time at center with Spurs so he should be happy.

Whiteside just played with coach Messina in Africa and had great things to say about him. Pop would make the situation work, I disagree with the notion of kicking him to the kerbside.

Spurs will have two late 1st round picks next year and they still need to bring over euro-stash project Nicola Mulatinov. They don't need Toronto's pick unless they use it with their own pick to move up in the draft. Even then, they really don't need more youngsters right now.

I do agree that the Spurs don't like to make too many changes and they like the current roster. However, this deal would be too good to pass up and would make them competitive for the next two years. If they stay put, the Spurs will not be able to do anything in free agency next year to upgrade the team, because of Gasol and Mills contracts.

wholly disagree this would make the spurs contenders.
