76ers/Wizards

Sixers get: Porter
Wizards get: Covington, Bayless, Sixers 2019 #1(if goes to Bos, conveys to 2020 #1)

Why Wiz say Yes: next year Walls contract balloons to $38 mill, Beal would be at $28 mill, and Porter at $27 mill. Covington is making only $11 mill on a very team friendly contract for 3 more years. Bayless and his $9 mill expire this year. And add a #1 pick this coming draft or next.
Why Sixers say Yes: Nobody is coming to Philly as a major FA. I love the sixers, and the city, but let's face it, there's more attractive opportunities for these big time NBA stars. So using cap space on an overpaid, yet quality player like Porter makes sense. Porter is just a step down from covington on D, but a much better shooter from deep, which the sixers desperately need.
Embiid
Saric
Porter
Redick/Fultz
Simmons/Fultz

Convington = Porter i'm not sure sixers do this.

I think Porter is definitely a step up from Covington. he's 3 years younger, shot 44% and 41% from threes the past two seasons on heavy usage, and is a similar defender ( Covington slightly better) . Plus, Porter fills a void. A excellent outside shooter. I realize the salary difference is a big negative, and the first rd pick will probably be 20-26 range, but I think its a reasonable trade.

it seems decent for both sides, its honestly tough to gauge porter’s value. he is a nice 3+D but probably an overpaid 3rd guy unless he can jump to allstar level soon. how either team feels about the possibility of that improvement would decide this deal.

Sixers don’t do this like Shizee said Covington = porter. Although porter most likely has slightly more on court value Covington is on a great contract so I don’t see the sixers giving up a first for a swap of the two I think the Sixers save money for next year.

I’d probably just stick with Covington. I just don’t think Porter is 10 or so million better than Covinton. I don’t think if Philly could go out and get Porter without including Covinton it would make a lot of sense. The more long 3 and D wings are the perfect fit next to Embiid and Simmons and Houston proved they’re also the Warriors Kryptonite. Simmons (Fultz to a point as well) gives you the unique ability to be able to switch almost everything with no liabilities if you have the right personnel around him. The only other team that has that ability would be the Lakers.
