Who do y'all think could be a surprise in next years MVP race? Not someone like LeBron, KD, Westbrook, Harden, Davis, Leonard, Giannis. Players like George, DeRozan, Embid, wall, Thompson, etc. Big name known players, that we don't expect to win MVP.

I think George if Roberson returns healthy George could lead in Steals like he did before Roberson got hurt, he could at least average something like 25 pts, 6 assists, 6 rebound, 2.5 steals and 40% from 3 if his averages look something like that and the thunder get 2nd in the West and Westbrook doesn't average a triple double. George might at least be in the conversation. If the thunder are 2nd and Westbrook averages a triple double he would get most attention over George in MVP race to the point I don't think George would be mentioned.

Ben Simmons/ Embiid, Oladipo if the Pacers can finish top 3,

How do people agree with nba16 if original poster puts Embiid. This is not trade rumor, it should be nba talk.

It’s hard to imagine anyone other than the expected guys winning, but if I had to choose one name not on your list, it would be Lilliard. If he can get another top 3 seed in the West and win the scoring crown, it’s a remote possibility.

Oladipo and PG13 could be the surprice candidates indeed.
Embiid is not a surprise, if he can stay healty.
Maybe Jokic (longshot)

And maybe K Love (it's a joke Shizee)

It has to be someone that is a #1 option, so George and Thompson wouldn't be in that.

I agree with rkenne (though I'm biased) that Lillard has an outside shot. If he goes for 30 and 8, and leads Portland to a top 5 NBA record, he could win it.

Ben Simmons wouldn't shock me. If they get the #1 seed in the east and he goes for something like 24/ 8/ 8, that could win it.

Derozan also has a chance. SA seems like they should be pretty good. If they can overtake Houston and get a #2 (or even #1) seed, and he is top 5 in scoring, he could win it.

Perhaps Kyrie as well. If Boston wins the east by 10 games and he's the clearcut #1 option on that team, he could win it.

Its going to be a top tier guy but maybe someone like butler in a contract year (if he doesn’t miss his usual 20 games a yr) and a far shot but maybe Donovan Mitchell goes crazy this year! But my thought is lebron probably already won it.

Kyrie or Derozan.

I think it would be hard for Kyrie with the perception of the East, he’ll probably miss some games at some point, and Boston will have to many other guys that need touches.

also i believe if girffin turns back the clock (BIG IF) and leads the pistons to a top 4 sead he would be a contender and its unlikely but it could happe.
