I doubt this would ever happen, but I actually don't dislike this move. The Knicks get out of Hardaway's contract and bring Kyrie to sell him. It's a gamble giving up those picks without a sure thing though, and it would be tough to get the language on those protections right.

Charlotte gets the right to match on Rozier, and while they bring in a big contract with Hardaway, he's productive. I would probably lose the protection on the 2019 pick to make sure I confers. That also avoids them not getting the pick or the pick Boston gets being moved back because of the every other year rule.

Boston is iffy. They bring in Walker, who is going to have to get paid like Kyrie will anyway. They bring in Ntilikina, who I think could be really good in a Smart type role. But unless they're moving Smart, that role is filled. That pick might still be really good, especially if Kyrie takes off on the Knicks.

If Boston is just looking to win this year, this could be a good move. You can move Smart or Ntilikina in the package to NO, and having Kemba instead of Kyrie means you can bring Davis in this year. It also gives you another future first to play with in that trade. The only issue you run into is that you're now messing with chemistry this late in a season that you're REALLY pushing for a ring. Unless you think you're keeping Kemba and would have the full core for seasons to come, that's a big risk.

Why would the Knicks give up two firsts? If Kyrie wants to play there, he can sign this summer.
