I would actually do that if I was the Pelicans and Celtics. Lose a ton but gain a ton.

2.) 22 Nov 2016 21:57:27
That does not get you Davis. Not even close. Please go make offers to Sacramento for Cousins instead.

1.) 07 Jun 2016 21:05:04
Bulls do that.

2.) 07 Jun 2016 22:32:57
I'd see if Chicago wants the #3 and #23 for Butler and let it go at that. If they don't want it, so be it.

Renounce Sullinger and see if we can add depth by packaging the 16, 31 and Olynyk.

3.) 07 Jun 2016 22:48:54
First trade would work, Second trade would need more to Brooklyn.

4.) 08 Jun 2016 02:42:21
@ supercollider
Why tf do you think Celtics need more depth?
Don't you mean talent? Surely!

5.) 08 Jun 2016 00:48:55
Agree with SimmonsOrBust. The first trade I think is a good haul for Chicago who get the two Brooklyn picks (I don't see any clear way for Nets to improve much in two years so should be top 10 minimum still) Bradley who can slide in and contribute right away while being young and on a very team friendly deal and then they get #23 and Hunter which are young prospects to develop. Not sure if they keep Johnson but he could help fill Gasol and Noah gap.

Second deal I think Brooklyn should get #16 and Suns should get the 2nd rounders (Suns already have 3 1sts and Nets need more value) . Not positive if it would be enough money but I'm curious if Celtics could make a run at Horford if they don't resign Sullinger and Turner or arrange some sign and trade where they give Hawks something so they don't lose him for nothing (Horford would need to want to go to Boston) . He'd be a perfect piece at the 4 and then that'd be a real good starting 5 while still having some depth and youth. In fact that starting 5 would look a little too good, there is either no chance they have enough money or I'm misvaluing these trades.

6.) 08 Jun 2016 02:49:07
After Chicago makes that trade they will need to trade D. Rose for young players and maybe a top 10 - 15 pick.

*Alot of crazy and thoughtless deals being tossed around here on the sight for the Celtics. I believe there will be George, Anthony, Cousins, Okafor, or Durant's etc. coming to town here in Boston.

My Ideas for Celtics Most Realistic Off-season Moves for '16-'17.

-Revisit a Trade with Chicago between Lottery Night and Draft Night.
*No J. Crowder in deal. *

Chicago Gets : -Nets 2016,2018 1st Rnd. picks
Dallas 2016 1nd. pick,2016 2nd Rnd. Miami pick
-A. Bradley, K. Olynyk, A. Johnson, J. Young

Boston Gets: -J. Butler, T. Gibson

*Draft Night Targets: Celts possibly may or may not choose to try to Draft-Up in 1st Rnd. for D. Valentine, B. Johnson, or M. Chriss.
All depends if D. A. and Co. can pull off a blockbuster trade for an All-Star.
My personal favorite Draft editions that would greatly benefit the Team are D. Valentine and A. J. Hammons

*1stRnd. (1-maybe 2 picks made)
My preferences in order if they are available.

#1-D. Valentine SG/ SF
#2-B. Johnson PF-or-
#3-M. Chriss PF-or-
#4-A. J. Hammons C/ PF

*2nd. Rnd. (3-5 picks made)

#1-T. Maker PF/ C
#2-J. Blossengame SF/ SG
#3-K. Felder PG
#4-A. Zizic C -or- I. Zubac C * (Draft and Stash)
#5-J. Uthoff PF

*Resign:
-E. Turner -Hometown Discount 4yr/ $35M
-J. Jerebko -Guarantee His 1yr/ $5M
-A. Johnson -Guarantee His 1yr/ $12M

*Sign FA:
-H. Whiteside -4yr/ $85M

*Let Sullinger, Zeller Sign Elsewhere.
Holland and Clarke Released.

*LINEUP:

PG: I. Thomas M. Smart T. Rozier-or-
K. Felder

SG: J. Butler D. Valentine-or- R. J. Hunter-or-
E. Turner J. Blossengame

SF: J. Crowder E. Turner-or- J. Blossengame-or-
J. Blossengame J. Uthoff

PF: T. Gibson J. Jerebko J. Mickey-or-
B. Johnson-or-
M. Chriss-or-
J. Uthoff

C : H. Whiteside A. J. Hammon T. Maker-or-
A. Zizic-or-
I. Zubac (Draft n'Stash)

*Injury pending;Team should improve to a 55+ win Conference Contender and about $10M under new Salary Cap.

1.) 20 May 2016 20:15:40
Looks a successful offseason to me. Definitely a competitive squad with plenty of young players so will only improve with time.

2.) 20 May 2016 20:33:25
No way zubac and zizic last til the second both could go on the middle of the 1st.

3.) 20 May 2016 22:19:44
I would be very, very surprised if Okafor becomes a Celtic.

4.) 21 May 2016 00:56:40
phillyrich1 I agree don't think Okafor is a great fit. Rumor has it they sent some trade offers for him at the deadline so maybe there is some interest however its probably just Ainge trying to low ball the hell out of them.

17 May 2016 15:07:28
Boston Celtics fail with Plan "A" and don't succeed in pulling off any Trades or FA Signings for the All-Stars they desire.

My idea for Celts Plan "B" Off-Season Moves for 2016-2017 season.

TRADE: *Boston pulls off a Rare but fair Inter-Divisional Trade with potential future All-Stars involved.

76er's get: -M. Smart (former #6 pick in 2014)
-2016 #16 pick

Celts get: -N. Noel (former #6 pick in 2013)

DRAFT:

*Boston keeps 1st Rnd. picks #3 and #23 if they can't land the #1 or #2 picks in Lottery.

*Celtics Trade 2nd Rnd Picks to Draft-Up in 2nd Rnd.

Draft 1Rnd:

-B. Hield- SG
(Long-Range/ Mid-Range Specialist. )

-A. J. Hammons- C/ PF
(Rim Protector/ Rebounder.
Mid-Range/ Long-Range Capability. )

Draft 2Rnd:

-J. Blossengame- SF/ SG
(Mid/ Long-Range Capability.
Shot Block/ Steal Capabilty. )

-K. Felder- PG
(I. Thomas Clone. )

-J. Uthoff- PF/ SF
(Stretch 4/ Tall 3.
Very Good Mid/ Long-Range Capability. )

RESIGN: -E. Turner-Hometown Discount 4yr/ $35M
-J. Jerebko-Guarantee his 1yr/ $5M
-A. Johnson-Guarantee his 1yr/ $12M

LINEUP:

PG: Thomas Rozier Felder
SG: Bradley Hield Blossengame *Hunter (D-League)
SF: Crowder Turner Uthoff *Young (D-League)
PF: Olynyk Jerebko Mickey
C : Noel Johnson Hammons

*Team not a Title Contender, but should improve to a still-gritty 50+ win team with increased Rim Protection from N. Noel. The team improves 3 Point production with K. Olynyk used as a Stretch 4 more often and with the addition of B. Hield at the 2.

1.) 17 May 2016 15:42:04
I like it but the Celtics need to look more at draft and stash guys in the draft IMO.

2.) 17 May 2016 16:27:07
I think there is something here with a Smart and Noel swap but I don't think Celtics will have to give up a first too. With the increasingly loaded front (especially if 76ers end up with 2nd pick and ingram goes first) court 76ers I think benefit more from this trade so I think they'd actually have to give up someone. If anything Celtics could include someone like James Young or Hunter. If 76ers really wanted the pick I think 76ers would need to add someone like Covington to the deal.

3.) 17 May 2016 16:28:24
HDC9.Though I would normally agree with drafting and stashing more of the picks on any given year, this upcoming season in particular is different.
I feel the Celtics want to keep improving drastically this off-season. They can't afford Not to get their hands on players that could contribute considerably Now rather than Later on down the road.
I feel the above moves in this year's weak Draft and through that 76er Trade could justify improving the team expotentially next season not 2-3 seasons from now.

4.) 17 May 2016 17:26:53
Jaw457.......I agree with your amendment to that 76er trade. The #16 pick was involved to add incentive to complete the deal. Add in Hunter and Covington to the deal and I'm game for that to take place......fingers crossed.

for'17-'18 season.

1.) 17 May 2016 05:28:57
I think that's good values for the Bulls especially if Nets pick gets into top 2, 2018 pick will likely be in the lottery too since Nets are a mess and won't be able to get any good any time soon with virtually no draft picks and minimal talent ( no top free agent will want to go to that dysfunctional front office) . Get a starter in Bradley on team friendly contract, rotational player in Olynk and two promising guys.

I think an addition that would benefit both teams is if Taj Gibson were added with another draft pick going to chicago. I think they'd want a little more at the 4 spot which this would help or could be addressed via free agency.

2.) 17 May 2016 14:56:36
Gotta agree with jaw457. Perhaps Taj and a second for the Mavs pick?

The deal is contingent on that pick being top 2 in order for Gar/ Pax to pull the trigger though.

A gamble not involving 76ers that may get me fired but might pay dividends is

Lakers get:
-2016 #3 pick,2017 Nets pick
-J.Crowder

Celtics get:
-#2 pick

Celtics Draft:
#2 -B.Ingram
#16-D.Valentine
#45-K.Felder
#51-J.Uthoff
#58-J.Layman

Another more reasonable inter-Divisional Trade to explore
other than with 76ers is

Knicks get:
-2016 Celts #23,#31,#35 picks

Celtics get:
-K.O'Quinn (an under-used PF/C in Knicks system)

Celtics FA:
-M.Williams
-J.Noah

RESIGN:
-Turner
-Jerebko

LET GO:
-Sullinger
-Zeller
-Johnson
-Holland

LINEUP:

PG:Thomas/Turner/Rozier
SG:Bradley/Smart/Hunter
SF:Ingram/Valentine/Uthoff
PF:Williams/Jerebko/Mickey

-Felder

I agree Larry. If Turner and the Celts can agree on a discount then I would be happy to see him come back.
If that be the case then I would put him starting at SG and move Smart into back to the 2nd team playing PG and SG with the hopes he will improve his long-range shooting. Even so, I do believe Smart will become trade bait sometime this year.

Overall, if the Celts can pull all those moves off, they can be a well blended/ much improved 55-60 win team. injury pending of course.
