Can the bulls sign anyone not past their prime?

2.) 14 Apr 2017 05:40:12
Jeff green and nene would look good in a Chicago jersey.

The fact that this is the offseason Bulls fans want supports my thinking they should try and deal Butler. These signings are similar to the Wade and Rondo ones. They get guys largely past their prime (maybe not so much in Teagues case) and even best case scenario they are a 3 or 4 seed in the East. These types of moves aren't sustainable especially when the cupboard is fairly dry with promising young talent. If they keep up these sort of moves they are going to just be average, not get great draft picks since they'll make the playoffs and get out early for the next couple years and then Butler will leave once his contract expires and the team will be in shambles.

I think best move would be to not delay the inevitable and hit reset now. Deal Butler and get a promising young piece, focus on developing young talent and drop to bottom of East where they can use high lotto picks to add meaningful talent. This approach I think will set them in a much better place in 3 years than trying to reconstruct an entire team around Butler by signing good but not great players who are in the declining portion of their careers.

If wade leaves bulls should use his money to build around jimmy shooters and they drop rondo

Patty mills 2 years 22m
Otto porter Jr
Trade Lopez to the blazers for draft pick Noah vonleh
Let mirotic walk sign kyle korver 2 years 16m.

Blazers have found their Center in Nurkic, they would have no interest in Lopez.

2.) 12 Apr 2017 04:45:37
Not a fan of those moves since the Trailblazers can't even do that trade for salary reasons (they already have so much cash tied up) and I think Wizards match any offer for Otto Porter.

I ultimately think Bulls best bet would be to deal Butler and hit the hard reset since they don't have too much promising young talent at the moment and they as far as I know have all their future picks so they'd be able to get the full benefit of tanking a few years. I think this offseason is when they can get the most value for Butler and as arguably the best available talent they should get plenty of offers (George may be better but his contract situation makes him less attractive especially with rumors of him wanting to go to LA circulating) .

The old team didn't get any younger there. Wade might not walk unless he is willing to take less money because he ain't getting anything close to $24mm elsewhere.

2.) 19 Mar 2017 01:02:18
Gar Forman is that you?

3.) 19 Mar 2017 02:06:38
Robin Lopez to the Knicks? What, so that they can have a fifth center on the roster?

4.) 19 Mar 2017 04:37:46
These moves aren't completely unrealistic and would make the Bulls a better team but wouldn't make them a contender. For this reason I think they need to first reassess what they can get for Butler. Celtics are the no-brainer option and could put together offers the Bulls couldn't decline (allegedly C's not wanting to deal Crowder is what held up the deal) . Bulls should also try teams like Nuggets, Twolves and (although I think they are a long shot) the 76ers who at least have the assets to get him. Or maybe even teams like Blazers or Wizards who may want to give up their current sg (and other pieces) for a better more rounded one.

If they aren't able to deal Butler and do a true rebuild, retooling around new FA (Rondo and Wade didn't really work out) is their best chance at being something and getting Butler to stick around once his contract expires. The Lopez trade doesn't make sense for me since it wouldn't even free up that much cash (only like 2 mill and Lee's contract is a year longer) and Bulls need a center (Lopez is a solid starter) . Millsap although getting old has a play style that ages well and is still an all-star and probably the best FA that Bulls could realistically get (Galo would be my backup choice) . Teague is also another solid player (although George Hill and Jrue Holiday are probably higher on my list than him) . If Wade picked up his option that would complicate things a bit.

5.) 19 Mar 2017 15:47:32
Bulls need to blow up the team and start over.
And not with Jackson as their coach. They need a players coach, not an idiot coach.
Trade for young players with upsides and draft picks, and Boston is the first store on their shopping list to get those.
Reinsdorf is praying that D-Wade's elbow isn't serious because Wade won't opt out if it is and that will slow the process another year.

I saw drose will be traded at deadline I'd laugh if bulls trade for rondo and taj for him.

Bulls offseason trade wade get shooters around jimmy butler try and sign george hill maybe wade for iman shumpert and jr smith then draft ivan rabb sign kyle korver.

Bullschi

1.) 03 Apr 2017 03:23:56
The trade is terrible for the Cavs. Smith and Shumpert are the Cavs two best perimeter defenders, Wade is constantly hurt, Wade's play fell off a lot this year, and Wade doesn't fit well with the Cavs starters. I also don't think the Cavs would have given up a first for Korver if they were going to let him walk 6 months later.

What do you guys see the bulls doing this off season and with hoilberg will they hire a new coach.

Bullschi

1.) 02 Apr 2017 22:54:41
Its already been said that everyone is safe, Marc tres. I mean fred hoiberg and the FO. Having said that, either direction is pointless.

1) you trade jimmy for the brooklyn pick and watch young players get held back due to the lack of player development in this organization. Since Thibs has left show me a player under 25 on this roster that shows any promise.

Or

2) the bulls get the 7th seed and make an interesting series with boston which causes jerry to go into contender mode this offseason where we hold onto jimmy and throw a max at JJ Reddick or Paul Milsap. Resulting in wait for it. a 5h seed and a first round exit (gasp) and a prolonged period of mediocrity.

When there's a couple of 3 year olds behind the wheel it doesn't really matter which direction the car goes.

2.) 02 Apr 2017 23:04:21
I think Bulls could use an entire front office change (Their front office was ranked 28th in the league by ESPN) . I think the ideal direction for Bulls would be to move Butler and start the rebuild but they shouldn't just move him for anything. Outside of the usual trades to Celtics a potential trade that I really liked was dealing Butler and Mirotic to Portland for McCollum, Crabbe, Leonard and two or three of their first rounders in this years draft.

It would give Bulls a clear star in McCollum who can play pg or sg and I think would really step his game to another level without having to share touches with Lillard. Bulls would also be able to add significant young talent in the draft. They would sacrifice much of their cap flexibility (trade could be altered) but even the big contracts they are getting are youngish guys who fill solid roles.

3.) 03 Apr 2017 03:46:22
They'll probably end up keeping Butler and then selling low when they are flailing around the trade deadline. They really don't have the young talent or cap space to improve the team significantly unless Wade turns down the player option. They could trade Wade, but honestly his value seems pretty low at this point. Most contenders he could help don't have the salaries to match his contract and if they have space there are better options in free agency. Young teams who have capspace, but can't draw much interest without overpaying and long contracts since they are fringe playoff may be interested. The only problem is they probably wouldn't want to give up much for a player who won't be productive once their cores have entered their prime.

They should blow it up. Sell Butler off to the higher bidder. If they could get something like the Brooklyn pick, Brown, Rozier, and a future first from Boston or a similiar package some where else it would be a good start. Then trade off Wade. One idea might be using their salary cap and Wade's contract to help another team clear space. A team like the lakers might be willing to pay a pretty steep price to try to and lure in free agents in 2018. Theoretically, a trade like Mozgov, Deng, the Houston pick, and a heavily protected 2020 for Wade or bring in a third team like Philly who has a million 2nd round picks and send 2 second round picks to the lakers and 1 to the bulls. Then they get Wade. It would be a low risk move for them to improve their roster in the short term with a proven leader. They would also keep salary cap flexibility for next year when they might have more to offer free agents. Maybe trade Robin Lopez as well . Then Trust the Process.
