Pretty sure the one thing they could trade for the #3 pick is worth way more than just that. He's the best player in the NBA, so Embiid or Simmons would probably have to be packaged with it.

Horford does do a lot of the little things and is a really good passer and can play D. I do think he got way to big of a contract for a guy best suited as a #3 option offensively and his game missed IT's presence on the court more than anybody. Even with the intangibles that he brings while on the court, he is not a player of equal value to the young NYK star that is being sought after in exchange. Imo Horford isn't going to be making any all star teams as his playing career winds down, while Kristof Porzingus very well could see multiple. Can't fathom a scenerio where the Knicks consider moving him, especially to a divisional rival. The Zen Master defining moment thus far as Knicks President was drafting him. Maybe make the trade for Melo instead and it makes more sense while vastly upgrading the Celts offensively and ability to space the floor to allow IT the space he needs to get easy buckets. Even at 32, Melo's game can rival the NBA's elite players for the next 3 maybe more years. And he gives Boston a realistic shot to beat the Cavs in a 7 game series next year.

If Indy doesn't make drastic upgrades to their current roster this off season that results in another superstar to pair him with then PG13 is heading back to his hometown to resurrect the purple and gold either via trade or as a FA in 2018. LA is going to do what is necessary to have the cap space for a 2nd max deal player to join him. If they can keep the majority of their young talent while adding PG13 and fellow 2018 UFA Cousins they would be back to the WCF's almost immediately. Assuming Ingram, Russell, and their #2 pic (hopefully Fox or Jackson) are able to realize their potential.

Why would NY want either player? Melo is 10 times better than Parker and Green is a product of Pop's system. Love Pau but he is grossly overpaid which NY seems to be trying to end the trend of acquiring awful contracts and Parker who is hurt really isn't much of an upgrade over Rose so they still suck and are in worse shape cap wise. Pretty certain NYK's want young assets in exchange for Melo not guys who are in the twilight of their career and won't be around in 2-3 years.

No from the Lakers side as well. It would be great to salary dump those 2 contracts but at the expense of Randle, Clarkson, and the #2 pic (who won't be Ball as they are already loaded with guys who don't play D) but very well could be J Jackson or D Fox and get a top rim protector who can't shoot and is paid way too much and the #10 pic who probably won't have much of an impact as a rookie and that will help draw big FA's in 2018 how? Jordan has Griffin and CP3 playing along side if him and they're still only a 4/ 5 seed come post season play. With no 1st rd pic next year LA isn't going to want to part ways with the assets they do have without getting a star player in return, which the big fella is not.
