Mavericks Trade- Wesley Mathews and Maxi Kleber

Pistons Trade- Jon Leuer, Stanley Johnson, Eric Moreland and a 2nd round pick

Mavs help their rebuild and Pistons get a strong a starter and decent backup to avoid making them the Pelicans of the east

Mathews eats up too much cap with Detroit. Asking for a 1st for Mathews is an indication of not wanting to trade him.

2.) 30 Jan 2018 19:14:36
I read an article that said the Mavs mentioned the 1st round asking price because of Matthews presence in the locker room; I don't think he's worth a 1st rounder unless its in the last few picks of the first round.

If they are going to take on $17M a year over the next 2 years; I think they can find better value.

3.) 30 Jan 2018 20:01:23
Mathews expires this season, but will likely exercise his player option for 18 mil next season. Not worth a 1st or a second. But not a terrible player, just paid too much. Dallas can handle the salary. Maybe Mathews renegotiates with Dallas this summer.

Clippers-Pelicans-Kings

Clippers Trade- Blake Griffin, Jamal Crawford, and Lance Stephenson

Clippers Receive- Kosta Koufus, Luke Babbit, Ryan Anderson, Alonzo Gee, Rudy Gay, and a 1st (Kings

Kings Trade- Rudy Gay, Kosta Koufus, Darren Collison, James Anderson, Ben Mclemore, a First, and a Second.

Kings Receive- Blake Griffin, Alexis Ajinca, and Jamal Crawford.

Pelicans Trade- Ryan Anderson, Alonzo Gee, Alexis Ajinca, and Luke Babbit.

Pelicans Receive- Darren Collision, Ben McLemore, Lance Stephenson, James Anderson, and a 2nd (Kings)

The Clippers get one of the best starting lineups in the league (Paul, Reddick, Gay, Anderson, Jordan) and a really good bench players in Koufus, Babbit (an amazing shooter) and Alonzo Gee and a first to potentially draft another bench player or hopefully a good starter. Although losing Griffin hurts they get an overall better team to compete with the Spurs in Warriors in addition to a future building block perhaps a Paul replacement.

The Pelicans get one of the best backup PG's in the league in Collison as well as Be McLemore who hasn't played to his potential and if they can get the best out of him he could be good in the future (starter or 6th man) . Lance has a huge upside if they can get him to play even close to how he did in Indiana they get a borderline allstar. They trade Anderson who is a free agent as well as 2 bench players in Babbit and Gee for them. They also got a 2nd round pick to hopefully get a contributor.

The Kings get another Star to go next to Cousins and Rondo making their team a playoff team for sure. They also get one of the best 6th men in the league in Crawford. This makes the Kings a team that none of the top teams want to verse in the playoffs. Now if they can get a couple of good bench players in FA this team could be a title challenger.

I'd say that what is tempting here for LAC are not so much anderson and gay as starters, as possible improvement for bench.
But problem with that is that players they bring in duplicate what they already have - koufos is slight upgrade over aldrich, who he has been performing decently, so LAC would prefer PF in this case. Also, Babbit, Gee are no better than Pierce, Johnson, if are at all. At the same time they lose Crawford, Stephenson from bench. Quality of incoming bench players doesn't make up for losing Blake, in fact their bench is almost weaker than before.
Pick, even better one, can be obtained in all of other eventual trades.

Pistons-Suns Small Trade

Pistons Trade- Spencer Dinwiddie

Pistons Receive- Jon Leuer

Suns Trade- Jon Leuer

Suns Receive- Spencer Dinwiddie

The Pistons get a big man that can shoot and play defense (fits Van Gundy's System) for a 4th string point guard.

The Suns get rid of a player who is getting older (26) and isn't in their long term plan. For a guard who is young (22) and may become a good backup to Bledsoe or Knight.

1.) 11 Feb 2016 21:09:25
PHX actually like Leuer and see him as part of future, certainly wouldn't give him for, as you say "4th string PG".

2.) 11 Feb 2016 23:50:17
They may like Leuer now but ultimately he makes their team better and they need to be bad, also he is getting a bit older so he won't be in their long term plans.

Rockets-Suns
Rockets Trade- Terence Jones, K. J. McDaniels, and Montrezal Harrel

Rockets Recieve- Markief Morris and a 2nd.

Suns Trade- Markief Morris and a 2nd

Suns Receive- Terence Jones, K. J. McDaniels, and Montrezal Harrel

The Rockets get a piece to help revive their season and become a competitive member in the west for 2 people not really in the rotation and Terrence Jones who Markief is an upgrade on.

The Suns get a decent pf who is still young (24) who can play in the starting lineup or come off the bench. They also get McDaniels who did well on a rebuilding team with Phili and Harrell who can just fill in and help their rebuild.

Mavs trade- Harrison Barnes, and Yogi Ferrell, 2021 second round pick
Mavs Receive- Jeremy Lamb, MKG, Protected 2018 First Round Pick, 2018 second round pick

Hornets Trade- MKG, Jeremy Lamb 2018 First Round Pick Lottery Protected, (unprotected if carried into 2019) 2018 2nd round pick
Hornets Receive- Harrison Barnes, Yogi Ferrell, and 2021 second round pick

The Hornets try to turn their season around and take advantage of a wide open east and possibly compete for a conference finals berth. Barnes is a huge offensive upgrade on MKG and although he may be a downgrade on defense he's still a very good defender. With a starting lineup of Walker, Batum, Barnes, Williams, and Howard they can definitely make the playoffs. Yogi Ferrell is a good backup pg which the Hornets desperately need to complete a solid backup unit. Worst case scenario they keep their pick and try again next year with a good prospect. They also get a punt in 2021 to find a diamond in the rough.

The Mavericks gain a once top pick in MKG which they can try to develop an offensive game. If anyone can Dirk's shooting coach can. Even if he doesn't develop a shot he's still one of the best defensive players in the game and can take on a Tony Allen role. Jeremy Lamb is another decent former prospect who can be a solid 6th man or take over the starting job if they trade Mathews. In this trade they are guaranteed a first round pick either this year or next year which is vital to have for a rebuilding team as well as a second rounder this year to possibly find a gem. They are giving up a good player in Barnes which is fine because they are trying to lose and Ferrell who is a decent prospect but they already have DSJ so they don't really have a need for him.

1.) 12 Dec 2017 18:40:22
MKG wouldn't play for Dallas. He's a Hornet for life. M. J. Wouldn't allow him to be traded either, unless MKG requested. Based on history. MKG gets mentioned every year in hypotheticals, nothing ever happens. His offense is picking up this year, now that he is back off injury. Batum has battled injury too. Doubt they are ready to blow up their team just yet. 2/ 5 starters is a big deal. Fiscally it makes sense. Cuban is only blown up in the media, most players with ball's don't care for him.

Mavericks Trade- Wesley Mathews and Salah Mejri

Mavericks Recieve- Solomon Hill, Alexis Ajinca, and a 2019 First Round pick

Pelicans Trade- Solomon Hill, Alexis Ajinca, and a 2019 First Round pick

Pelicans Recieve- Wesley Mathews and Salah Mejri

The Mavs fight for their status as the worst team in the league definently getting worse to get higher odds at a good pick as well as receiving a future first that should be around 15-20. Solomon Hill isn't an awful player even though he is overpayed and Ajinca is basically a more paid Salah just to make the money work.

The Pelicans makes their guard situation much better and makes them a strong team to push for the playoffs. It also shows Boogie that they mean business and could be the factor that convinces him to stay when he's a free agent. Salah is a good backup center with lots of energy and on a cheap one year deal.

Mathews is a shell of what he used to be. 18 mil next season is pill to swallow.

2.) 11 Dec 2017 11:50:42
The Mavs aren't getting a first out of Mathews. With his contract I don't think he has any value. I don't think he has negative value, but I could see that being the case before the Mavs end up with a first for him.
