Lakers get Luke Kennard and an unprotected second round pick

Pistons get Kyle Kuzma and Talen Horton-Tucker

Kuzma is struggling for the Lakers in his role as a spot-up floor spacer. Kuz isn't getting nearly as many touches as last year, and it has resulted in him losing his scoring rhythm. Kennard is exactly what the Lakers need: a sharpshooter. Kennard is a career 40% 3 point shooter on a Pistons team where he gets a lot of defensive attention. Kennard could be lethal on the Lakers. The Lakers create a roster spot in this deal that can be used on JR Smith or a buyout player.

The Pistons acquire Kyle Kuzma, who is the overall more talented player. Kuz will get the touches that his development requires on the Pistons, especially if the team rebuilds. The trade would actually be a homecoming for Kuz who is from Michigan. Detroit is a better fit for Kuzma, he can play the style he's comfortable with and have a chance at developing into the face of a franchise.

Lakers say no thanks.

@usa you have to consider that Kuz’s stock is pretty low right now. Maybe they get a protected first instead of the second but that’s about it. Kennard would be a natural fit alongside LeBron.

Kuzma still has the chance to prove his worth. No need to trade him now.

Luke is better than Kuz. Luke is younger better and Detroit loves him.
