Best for Minnesota?

Trade #15 and James Johnson (opt in) to Orlando for Aaron Gordon

or

draft Precious Achiuwa with #15?

Gordon fits there timeline.

I like the idea. I think orlando would need a little more though. Something like a future first or equivalent value. I also think throwing in Ross or Aminu might be interesting.

I think Orlando is trying to move Gordon, which means they are going to get less than "market value".

I am not a fan of Gordon’s fit in MIN. It’s true he’s an athletic PF on defense, but he only edged above 30% 3P in the last month of the season. The Wolves saw firsthand how a lack of three point shooting stifles their system, and it is especially true at PF, since it allows opposing coaches to keep a true big on the floor. He can’t guard Towns, but if Gordon can’t make three pointers, he can defend Gordon - or more specifically - defend the rim and wait for him and others,

That said, I think the Nets pick is a fair offer for him, and he is certainly more valuable to MIN than in ORL, so a good trade candidate. If MIN had to throw in Amari Spellman, I imagine they’d still agree. If they refused, I doubt ORL would kill the trade though.

I’m surprised the value Gordon has around here. Anything more than pick 15 seems like a overpay. He’s a nice player, but he is maybe the 4th best player on a championship team. I don’t think he could be top 3 (unless he’s on the Lakers I guess) .

I think this is a good trade and if Orlando wants more, a 2nd is the best Minny could throw.

BMiller, he’s a solid 3rd or 4th scorer, he’s a good passer, and he’s a good versatile defender that can protect the rim. How much better would say the Lakers be, if you replace Kuzma with him? What would he look like in a good line up playing small ball 5? He had a bad year, but he’s on a team with bad spacing, too many bigs and no guards that pass particularly well. Even with a team that fits his game horribly, he was solid. You’d be extremely lucky to get someone close to him with the 15.

And that second would be the 2022 best of Philly/ Denver pick.

His “bad year” didn’t seem much different than the rest of his years.

He’s a poor defender, putting him at small ball 5 would be suicide.

I’m not sure the Lakers would be more than maybe 1 or 2 wins better than they are now. He just doesn’t move the needle much.

He’s a solid role player, sure. I’m just not sure he does the little things (defend, screen, rebound) that you want a guy like that to do.

He reminds me of peak Jeff Green (or maybe Tobias Harris as a ceiling) . Can put up great stats and makes plays that make him look like a star. But there’s just something missing. He’d be best as a second unit leader.

Agree with BMiller. Perfect assessment. Gordon hasn't developed, just like Green didn't develop. You know if a player has "it" after four or five years and Gordon doesn't have"it".
