I think he accepts the option and waits until next year when there are a bunch of teams with cap.

There aren't many free agents available next year, but most teams are over the cap. I think he has a better chance next year to get a big contract.

He could definitely get a decent contract outside of Chicago. And he could easily be traded this season. Chicago giving him a big deal might not be incredibly likely, but I don't think that lowers his chances of opting out too much.
Him ending up with Portland seems like a good fit for both sides. His contract matches Whiteside pretty perfectly.

I can't see that happening. The Nets are looking at big time guys, they're not going to tie up their cap space on Porter for two years unless they got something really good in return (the Bulls pick) . And I think the Bulls would be crazy to offer that much.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. Almost Robert Sarver, Dolan bad. Analytics were invented so moron owners like reinsdorf, sarver, dolan can evaluate player quality by way of numbers to know how much to pay them, because they aren't fans, and have no eye or feel for the game. Blazers just had an owner who was a fan at least, knowledgeable about basketball? I wouldn't go that far. The new owner isn't but the team is for sale unofficially-officially.
