Atlanta/Portland

Atlanta sends Capela,Hunter, Bogdanavic,1st pick

Portland sends

J Grant,Ayton

Upgrade Atl roster
Gives Portland movable contracts as they rebuild around the young backcourt

Why would they trade Ayton?
They can built arround Henderson-sharpe-Camara-Ayton and R williams.

2.) 12 Jan 2024 11:36:31
@Gasupo great question. Not too familiar with the direction that the blazers wanted to go but I thought Moses Brown and R Williams was their future at center. I could definitely see Ayton as their future though.

Atl- Phoenix -Pacers.

Atl-gets:
Myles Turner,Buddy Hield & (2nd Rd pick) from Pacers
better perimeter shooting.

Suns get:
Capela and 2nd Rd (32)from Pacers
Suns get cap flexibility. Better paint defender.

Pacers get:
Bogdanavic, Okungwu & Ayton.
Land the center they want plus a young PF.

Does this make sense to Atlanta? Seems like they are sending OO for nothing.

2.) 14 Jun 2023 12:15:19
Well maybe it would be fair to kick the Pacers for a late 1st round pick (27th) overall instead of a 2nd Rd pick. But Okungwu doesn't have the value most Hawks fans think he has. He was severely over drafted, undersized, no offensive or defensive perimeter presence role player. You got to have something to pry Hield for Bogdanavic.

Hawks send Capela, Bogdanavic and 1st Rd pick

Pacers send Turner and Hield

Hawks need to go all in. The Murray trade was good but they still don't have enough to get into 4th or better in the East.

Pacers retain a defensive anchor while they rebuild. Plus another 1st rounder.

1.) 22 Sep 2022 18:14:36
Not sure that Turner + Hield add anything more than what Capela + Bogdanovic bring to ATL. Not sure this trade gets ATL "into the 4th of better in the East" either.

2.) 22 Sep 2022 18:52:29
turner being able to space the floor gives their offense and pick and roll / pop and more options and unpredictability. also can unlock collins more as a roll man and turner never played with a pick and roll passer like trae nor has he had that type of spacing. Pacers should get a better return cappela and bogdonavich have less value to their team than others maybe send these to the lakers and get two unprotected firsts while taking on russ contract.

3.) 22 Sep 2022 19:02:29
I can see a Turner/ Capela swap with like 2-3 2nds coming from Atlanta, but losing a first and Bogdanovic for Hield isn't going to help them, despite how much I like Buddy.

4.) 22 Sep 2022 22:15:26
@Fredman I disagree. I believe Turners size helps in matchups that Capela struggle with. Turner is definitely a better perimeter defender and scorer. @AHooper is 100% correct Collins took a step back because Capela clogs up the lane because he can't make a dam layup. Bogi legs are gone Hield is a much better defender & better 3pt threat. Hield could be a starter if injury hit us in a long NBA season. I definitely think we could climb into the top 4 in the East with those upgrades. The contracts are even the only thing the Hawks would be losing are draft picks. The trade for Murray is "all in" move the draft will not be our friend for the next 5 years. We are locked into Trae & Murray extension. There is no turning back at this point. Go all and try to win a title with that squad. Capela & Bogi ain't gonna get you there.

5.) 23 Sep 2022 08:37:57
Turner better shot blocker, Capella better rebounder. Rather have the 5 rebounds than the 1 shot block.

Dukey said that Turner never played with P&R guard. That is false. P&R is about all Haliburton runs as a PG.

6.) 23 Sep 2022 13:44:49
Fredman haliburton got traded mid way through last year to Indy and Turner got injured. They haven't been playing together.

Pacers trade Turner & Hield to Atlanta

Atlanta trades Capela, Bogdanavic, Okungru and a 1st rd pick

Dukey99

1.) 31 Jul 2022 20:04:32
Hield and Bogdanovic are about equal. Capela should have more value than Turner since the latter only has a year left. Why would Atlanta add a 1st plus the player who might have more value than anyone else in the deal?

2.) 31 Jul 2022 22:08:12
Great question. I think where we differ is Turner and Capela value. I don't value Capela as high value. He can't space the floor. I even value Turner as a more active shot blocker. I grade Hield over Bogdanavic who is 30 and especially because of injury issues. Also the Hawks foolishly extended capela so Indy would be on the hook for that and I know he is not a long term plan for them. I think a 1st evens the deal. But I definitely see your point. It's a legit position.

3.) 31 Jul 2022 22:29:54
I take this for Indy.

4.) 31 Jul 2022 23:06:27
Gasupo as a Hawks fan I would do it. I think the Hawks need to go "all in" and not half do it. I like Capela but his offensive limits clogs the lane and pushes John Collins further out. With a center like Turner you can spread the floor. Hield is more athletic than Bogdanavic and equal in shooting. I hate to lose Okungru but I don't think we resign him anyway. We would need to find his replacement with MLE money.

5.) 01 Aug 2022 00:21:08
Throw in John Collins and you have yourself a deal. Collins instead of Okongwu.

6.) 01 Aug 2022 01:43:13
No way @Shaqisback. John Collins will not be traded. The Hawks wouldn't trade Collins straight up for Turner let alone a 1st Rd pick ?.

7.) 01 Aug 2022 15:48:06
Okay @Dukey99. Have Atlanta up the ante and the trade should look like this: Capella, Collins, Bogdanovich, and 2 1sts for Turner and Hield.

You said they won't do Collins and a 1st, what about Collins and 2 firsts? LMFAO.

8.) 01 Aug 2022 17:21:32
You got jokes.

9.) 01 Aug 2022 19:41:52
@Dukey99 that I do, but you do as well if you think John Collins is worth a top 10 player. He isn't anywhere close to a top 10 player himself.

10.) 02 Aug 2022 12:52:15
Packaged with a player on a rookie deal and picks MIGHT get the Hawks into a Ben Simmons/ Draymond Green level of player.

11.) 02 Aug 2022 21:23:05
I definitely don't think Collins is worth a top 10 player. I said that's what its gonna take for the Hawks to trade him. And I don't blame them. He is a great "piece" which is why 20+ teams want him and his contract.

12.) 02 Aug 2022 21:25:00
Fredman the Hawks wouldn't want ben or Draymond I don't think their contracts fit their goals. The owners are cool with paying a little in the tax but not for marginal players.

Great trade by my Hawks for Murray. Now lets go all in by trading:
Capela,Bogdanavic,Okungru 2024 1st Rd. Pick 2023 2nd rd pick

Suns send Ayton S&T and Crowder

Trae/rookie/vet minumum
Murray/Huerter
Hunter/Johnson
Collins/Crowder
Ayton/rookie/vet minumum

Not legal for multiple reasons.

2.) 30 Jun 2022 05:36:13
So to make it legal @Nightcap. Ayton and Crowder for Capela and Bogadaovic. I know its not a even trade player value wise for the suns but based on the NBA sign and trade rules the suns are pretty much screwed. To be honest the suns would be better off letting Ayton walk. But they still would be over the cap with several roster spots to fill. About the only other offer would be Myles Turner straight up for Ayton but I dont think Indiana wants that type of money coming back. It will be interesting to see tomorrow.

3.) 30 Jun 2022 08:51:52
Still not legal for multiple reasons.

4.) 30 Jun 2022 12:29:26
Dukey how are suns screwed? You need to stop listening to idiots like Adrian woj. Only leverage ayton has is he has to sign deal. Supposedly so many teams were going to offer ayton the max, because phx wouldnt match. Yet now only 2 teams Orlando and the spurs even have enough money to mk the offer. And the latter just traded their best player to fully rebuild. If phx doesn't get an offer they like they simply match any offer and put him on the block at the deadline or next summer when they can get full salary back.

5.) 30 Jun 2022 12:58:44
Looking at Nightcap, "The force is strong in this one. " LOL.

It's not a bad compensation. But as a Hawks fan our front office is in shambles. Honestly I don't think they know what they want to do.

Why would the Hawks make this trade?

Dumping salary is easy. My Hawks dumped John Collins who has 75 million left at 25 million per year. The issue is finding a team with a yearly cap space amount willing to take on the players. As far siakim he is threatening not to sign with a team that trades for him because he wants to choose his own team. I doubt if he would resign with the pacers.

As a Hawks fan I'm in. I've always wondered why we kept extending Capela and Bogdanavic and extended Hunter. If siakim walks I would be fine with the risk to be able to move from those 3 contracts especially Capela he was the reason John Collins fell out of rhythm with Trae & the pick roll. Capela is a dinosaur who clogs up the paint and can't shoot. He would be perfect for the Lakers to just rebound and allow AD to stay outside.

You must be a pacers fan because generally when a person list the roster of only 1 team within a 3 team trade and the other 2 teams are fleeced no way hawks give up Murray for a pick and buddy shield. Lol.
