It's simple. Washington just has to be willing to pay Shroder $39M so salaries match up. There only has to be one guaranteed year.

Okay. There is a way, but it is SERIOUSLY wacked. So it basically involves S&Ting THT and Schroder within the same trade but to different teams. Both players get $20 mil in first year.

OKC S&T Schroder
NY S&T THT
Lakers get a $40 mil TLE.

Trade Westbrook into the TLE while sending Washington Kuzma.

Now there are A LOT of obstacles to this happening with the main ones being getting the players to agree to play for these teams as well as these teams wanting these players.

Sign and trade requires 3 guaranteed non option years. Though with the rule, I think they’d only have to give Schroeder 35 million a year roughly for his first year, so 3 years 105 would work. They could even work a declining deal into it getting it down to around 97.5 over 3 years.
