Later in the season

Orlando gets-
T. Murphy III
D. Graham
D. Gallinari
Pelicans 24 1st lottery protected

No use for 2 of these players but they can be moved later. The prize for them is Murphy and they add a 1st.

New Orleans gets-
D. White

Giving up Murphy hurts, but losing one of many picks doesn't and upgrading from Graham to White is a big positive for the success of their team. He's just what they need.

Boston gets-
M. Bamba
T. Ross

Dealing from a position of strength to add depth where it's needed.

1.) 02 Oct 2022 11:53:25
Um no thanks Magic doesn’t need another guards I and forwards I rather keep Bamba let Ross contract expire

Lottery protected pick wouldn’t help @ all

Bamba very important to bench role

Ross is veteran that we need ShaqIsBack is right

Magic isn’t rush to make any moves

Magic already have guards & forwards

It’s wouldn’t make sense to them to add more

Also Magic wouldn’t want Gallinari & Graham contract neither

Especially Gallinari ACL injury we dealt so many injuries in the past we don’t need that anymore

All we need to stay healthy

We already have enough young talents

We just had put pieces together

Starter Five

Mo Bamba.

2.) 02 Oct 2022 12:54:35
You really wouldn't want Murphy?

3.) 02 Oct 2022 14:20:04
Nah I’m not high on him Magic doesn’t have spot for him neither too many minutes they have to play Suggs & Fultz & Okeke Franz & Paolo & Harris & Anthony & Isaac & BolBol & Houston & Hampton & Wendell

No spot for Graham & Murphy III.

4.) 02 Oct 2022 14:58:37
Funny you don't mention Bamba or Ross.

20 Jun 2022 09:38:41
Boston gets-
R. Holmes
M. Harkless (Schroeder TPE)

Kings get-
D. Theis
P. Pritchard

Theis is a good back up but not as good as Holmes, but he's owed less money. His 3rd year is a team option as opposed to a player option for Holmes. Add in Pritchard and Harkless is a salary dump to help with the value to Sacramento.

What do you think Fredman?

1.) 20 Jun 2022 10:57:34
Why would Boston do this?

2.) 20 Jun 2022 11:49:24
I think Boston would do it because Horford is aging and Williams is so far injury prone. Holmes is an upgrade over Theis.

3.) 20 Jun 2022 13:35:55
Pritchard doesn't move the needle for me. 2023 unprotected first might thou.

4.) 20 Jun 2022 15:24:11
That's probably too much considering it's more a move out of luxury than need. Boston could always use it's MLE on a big or live with Theis.

01 Jun 2022 01:48:44
For Boston to get an extended run with great D

Boston gets-

Toronto gets-
R. Williams
P. Pritchard
2025 1st

Boston gets-
M. Turner

Indiana gets-
A. Horford
2023 1st
2027 1st

G. Williams

Either of these make sense?

1.) 01 Jun 2022 02:48:36
Nope, they don't for the other reams involved.

2.) 01 Jun 2022 06:28:56
I don’t hate either of these. That’s not bad value for OG, and it gets Toronto the center they want. And that’s solid value in return for Turner.

05 May 2022 11:58:16
Boston gets-
D. Ayton S & T

Phoenix gets-
R. Williams
A. Horford

For Phoenix, I think it's a solid return if they're not looking to pay Ayton. They can keep or move Horford and Williams is locked up on a great contract.

Horford has been awesome for Boston but he's running out of time and this might be the last chance they have to replace him. Everyone loves Robert Williams but he's not big enough to battle Embiid or other large centers. The improvement of Grant Williams allows them some unexpected flexibility. They would still be a very good defensive team and would be better offensively, at least on paper.

G. Williams

R. Williams

1.) 05 May 2022 12:51:01
I think the money can work if you're giving Ayton a max contract (which is likely what it will take to pry him away from the Suns) . Difficulty is that it puts Boston into the hard cap with about 5M left to spend but very little flexibility.

2.) 05 May 2022 13:57:58
Is it a better offer than Kings sending Holmes+Barnes for Ayton?

3.) 05 May 2022 14:08:55
I think it is a better offer because Williams is locked up on a great contract, but it's debatable.

4.) 05 May 2022 14:28:27
Suns max out Ayton. They need to.

5.) 05 May 2022 15:07:44
@Fredman Williams has significantly more value than Holmes + Barnes.

6.) 05 May 2022 15:27:09
The trade value comparison is pretty irrelevant. It’s all about what team Ayton chooses.

29 Jan 2022 02:15:36
Boston gets-
K. Huerter
2nd Rd pick from Cavs

Atlanta gets-
J. Richardson
R. Langford
2 2nd Rd picks from Boston

Cleveland gets-
D. Wright

Boston needs shooting, Atlanta needs perimeter D, and Cleveland needs help at PG. Boston turned down a package for Smart that included Huerter and Reddish already. Huerter's and Richardson's minutes and production are similar, but I believe Huerter has more value, hence the addition of Langford who is also a very good defender, and draft compensation. Huerter has a poison pill, but Cleveland's DPE and need solves that and that's why they're included here.

1.) 29 Jan 2022 03:18:09
Looks a like a good trade. I think Hawks only do this if they don’t want to use Huerter in a package for an upgraded star (with Collins)

2.) 29 Jan 2022 03:28:44
Boston going to use most of Fournier's TPE to take on Huerter's poison pill contract?

3.) 29 Jan 2022 03:48:28
Can’t trade Huerter until July 1st. By then Wight no longer under current contract.

4.) 29 Jan 2022 11:14:21
Boston doesn't have to use their TPE as they're sending out more salary then they're receiving, even with the poison pill.

Huerter can be traded now, the poison pill ends July 1st.

5.) 29 Jan 2022 13:19:32
No way hawks want to give up huerter for . Whatever this bs is.

6.) 29 Jan 2022 14:03:03
@nightcap. My bad. Made a mistake about how much Richardson was making this season. Thought he was making much less.

Hey Fredman, Check out the YouTube video from NBA front office on 8/10. The second half of the video is a nice preview on Sacramento.

1.) 11 Aug 2022 20:28:07
yea, the Kings are getting some "appreciation" from the media this year. Heck, Marc Spears even doubled down on Kings making the playoffs on ESPN's NBA Today show. Kings are going to be a good team, but the West is just stacked, and it is really, really hard to do any real forecasting. If they Kings were in the East, they would be a lock for the play-in tournament if not 7-8th seed. The only thing I think that is in the Kings's favor is that quite a few teams in the West have old stars who are likely to miss a chunk of games. Lakers, Clippers, Phoenix, Golden State.

I also like that the Kings made a bunch of defensive minded signings right before training camp. There are going to be some real battles during training camp that may harden the Kings and help them get a good jump to the start of the season.

25 Jun 2022 02:32:28
Knicks looking to cut salary. What should they give a team to take Fournier with nothing going back?

1.) 25 Jun 2022 03:38:50
A 1st.

2.) 27 Jun 2022 17:26:36
You might get away with someone only taking that Dallas first.

04 Apr 2022 23:37:54
If you aren't already, I would recommend to anyone here to subscribe to NBA Front Office and heavy on YouTube. Steve Bulpett and Keith Smith are quality insiders who always have something interesting to say.

05 Dec 2021 15:31:51
Last night I watched Portland for the first time. Obviously Dame was out but that team is probably as hopeless as any team in the league. Honestly I'd rather be a Magic, Rockets, OKC, or Pistons fan. At least those teams have something to look forward to in the form of young players and or picks. Portland really needs to blow it up while they can, and I'm not talking about getting a guy like Simmons. They need as many young players and picks as they can get and embrace a full rebuild. At the very least they should trade Dame, CJ, Nurkic, Covington, and probably Powell and Nance.

1.) 05 Dec 2021 19:15:31
At least they're not the Celtics.

2.) 06 Dec 2021 01:39:31
Come on Casual, you can do better than that!

25 Mar 2021 20:35:35
Some people kept saying that teams couldn't send out players when using a TPE, but it looks like Boston sent out Teague along with the picks for Fournier. Is there something more to it?

1.) 26 Mar 2021 12:37:45
I had put it out that no contract could be sent back using the TPE, news outlets put it out as such so I just put out what I had heard. I also heard that Boston gave Orlando cash to pay for his salary along with the two picks. So it just goes to show that ALL meadia outlets put out BS equally.

2.) 26 Mar 2021 12:46:15
Also I heard 2.3 mil was sent along with Theis for them to get under the cap.

Any information from anyone here?

3.) 26 Mar 2021 13:55:49
I think it is actually TWO separate trades reported as one because the TPE rule is quite clear in the CBA.

Orlando trades Fournier into Boston's TPE and creates a $17 mil TPE for Orlando.

Boston trades Teague and picks into Orlando's new (or another if Orlando has it) TPE.

So it is more a loophole than anything else.

4.) 26 Mar 2021 15:11:48
I haven't seen the details of how the trades were structured yet, but Teague could go to Orlando as a separate transaction because he is vet minimum and can be traded without anything coming back. Every team is allowed something around 5-6 M per year to send out in trades, and also can take that much back in trades. Money and picks can be used in a TPE.

5.) 26 Mar 2021 16:56:11
AP has the Magic deal as 2 second rounders and TPE for Fournier.

Does this deal really help Boston? My opinion is No! Ainge should have done nothing and used that TPE during the summer.

6.) 26 Mar 2021 19:55:05
What I've read in Boston is-

Teague plus 2 2nds for Fournier.

1.3 mil going to Chicago but no cash to Orlando.

Using Poirier TPE to acquire Kornet and Kanter TPE to acquire Wagner, while creating a new TPE by dealing Theis.

The way I read it in the CBA is that you can't add salary to a TPE, meaning if you have a TPE of 17 mil, and you trade a player making 2 mil, you still can only acquire a player making 17 mil, rather than one making 19 mil. But who knows.

No viable way for Boston to acquire him before Galo is eligible to be traded.

I think the Davis ship has sailed for Boston. His value is down as it is but then there's the fact that he didn't want to play there before. Too risky I believe. If Davis were not an injury risk and wanted to play there then maybe, but then that leaves only Smart, injury prone Brogdon, and Pritchard for both guard slots.

In the Celtics’ case, The Athletic has reported that Jaylen Brown, who turns 26 in October, Derrick White and a first round pick were offered. One source disputed that to Heavy, but the question of offers and counter-offers often comes down to a matter of semantics.

“You may ask a team what they think of a certain one of your players, and the next thing you know they’re telling someone you offered him, ” said a general manager. “You didn’t, but that’s how this thing works sometimes. It sucks — for you and for the player involved — but it’s the way it is. ”.
