GSW - NYK

NYK get #30, D. Lee & A. Bogut

GSW get #4

GSW draft Porzingis.

NYK:
Melo gets help. Knicks get an excelent rim protector and a double double scoring PF who played his best years in NYK to help their struggling offense. Their chamestry and passing is already proven commodity. They are probably the best (or second best, Gasol-Noah) passing frontcourt duo in the NBA. Bogut and Lee are not the youngest players, but they still have some prime (or close to prime) years left. Melo is also in that conversation, so they can age together and NYK can rebuild when they all retire. Lee has only one year left on his contranct and Bogut has two, so they will have some financial flexibility left, especialy when salary cap rises in years to come. Though there wouldn't be much room left for some big name signing in free agency this season, any decent signings at guard positions would make NYK an instant playoff team in the weaker Eastern conference.

GSW:
Both Lee and Bogut played a minor role for GSW in the finals. Their small lineup was better without them on the floor. Porzingis gives them a first class shotting and a decent athleticism on their center position offensively plus he can play above the rim and be a good transition finisher. On the defensive end he is still a project. Although he can protect the rim with his size and large wingspan, his rebounding skills and strenght need improvment. He is young and athletic enough to improve his weaknesses and become one of the best big men in the NBA. If he turns to be more of a project that he seems to be, they can always play super small with Iggy or start Ezeli who is already taking more and more minutes from Bogut plus there would be more minutes for Speights who was excelent for Dubs earlier in the season. David Lee was already confirmed to be traded as soon as possible, why not adding another player in the mix who isn't the best fit in their revolutionary super small offense. Clearing cap space for Green, Barnes (and Curry eventualy) won't hurt also. They can't loose that much with this trade, but if Porzingis turns to be next Nowitzky as some scouts are saying, they will have a star for years to come even when Curry and Thompson grow old.

PG Curry/Livingstone
SG Thompson/Barbosa
SF Barnes/Iggy
PF Green/Speights
C Porzingis/Ezeli

Well there goes the Knicks cap flexibility on an oft-injured big man and another that ended up becoming Draymond's backup this year. Terrible for the Knicks, but I'm sure Phil would do it!

Congrats. I know it was very hard, but you managed to figure out the single worst Knicks trade imaginable. Lose all cap room, get 2 old, super injury prone players who have swolen contracts, little value, and clearly won't help the knicks progress. Not only do you have the knicks do you a favor and take their dead weight off your shoulders. you expect the knicks to pay HANDSOMLY in the form of the 4th pick in a super top heavy draft. Congrats. This is awful

i can't believe how serious you took this deal to the point where u wrote this much. There is absolutely zero chance NY does this!. GS has told Lee that he would be dealt so if NY wanted him they could just trade Calderon and a future 2nd round pick for him and keep the #4 pick. worst trade I've seen in awhile
