One mega-four-team-trade

CHI-SAC-NYK-MIA

CHI (gets a long term star)
out: Gasol, GIbson, Snell, Mirotic, 1st
in: Cousins, L. Thomas

SAC (some quality, some long term prospects and picks)
out: Cousins, McLemore, Collison
in: Gasol, Mirotic, O'Quinn, Winslow, Grant, T. Johnson, Galloway, CHI and MIA 1 st rounders

NYK (some talent to compensate Melo, some long prospects to build around and Porzingis)
in: Deng, Gibson, McRoberts, Collison, McLemore, Snell
out: Anthony Thomas, Grant, O'Quin, Galloway

MIA: (add Anthony, last chance for him to contend)
in: Anthony
out: Deng, McRoberts, Winslow, Johnson, 1st round

Money works. Bit ambitious, but I feel everyone gets fair compensation more or less.

Wow Miami and Bulls really clean up.

1. 1 draft pick and basically mirotic and Winston isn't enough for cousins.
2. Mclemore and snell isn't nearly enough for melo.

The Knicks get riiiippppped. Deng. Great prospect! Same with Gibson.

Knicks would cut out everyone and just trade with Miami.

OK, I can see where you are coming from, but

1. There is some immediate high class talent in Gasol, and there are also Galloway, Grant and Johnson alongside the two you have mentioned form younger ones. They got some picks, assets, talent, potential, and can pursue further trades (if they decide to go down that road)

2. As for Knicks, Melo is still very good, but declining (also, there is contract, witch in season or two will be toxic), and they get some immediate cover in Deng and Gibson, upgrade at PG with Collison and long term SG, McLemore, plus there is Snell. I think few very good long term pieces.

I would rather have a declining melo than mclemore and snell, and that's no where near trade value for melo. Just look at the rumors going around, melo to heat for deng, Winslow, AND whiteside. way way better than your deal. Or rumor 2 that gives the Knicks Winslow and WCS, again way way way better than snell and mclemore.

Oh yeah, and for the first trade.1st round pick, def not this season because the heat don't have one, so now it's a future pick LATE pick, so that has hardly any value today, O'Quinn is a good bench player, and if the Kings like Paul, O'Quinn, and Galloway so much they can just sign them in 6 months. Then it leaves you with Winslow and mirotic, and that is nowhere near enough for cousins and let alone try are giving up mclemore too. If this trade would happen the Bulls and heat gms get a raise, while divas and Jackson get fired.

Heat get ripped. Winslow is going to be good Winslow Deng 1st rd+ for Anthony that's a lot.

What makes you say Melo is toxic next year or the year after? His style of play can be successful into mid 30s. This trade makes no sense for the Knicks. They would just trade Anthony for the heats package. It's better by far than what you give them. I'd far prefer getting Winslow and a first if you are trying to say the Knicks are getting young assets to build with porzingis. Just makes no sense.

OK, logic according to which I was guiding (besides playing a bit with a blockbuster) is that these superstar packages usually lands you either ready now compensation players, or talents and picks. In my opinion, here is combination of both for both teams (NYK and SAC) . And when you are getting it from one team, they usually don't have it enough (ex. Boston, only Smart can interest Kings, and picks are high lottery, besides Nets one, and that isn't guaranteed to fall at no.1, Simmons, who is only relevant compensation) . And SAC isn't that sold on tanking, same goes for Knicks, and with this trades they won't be a worse teams, but also it easies them transition into "tanking mode" if they decide to. And they will have to decide something, both of them.

As for Melo, in 2 seasons he will still have 3 years and roughly 75-80 mills to be paid. And will be 33. He isn't as consistent as he was, became a slightly better team player this year, but still has same issues as always, and they are going to be more apparent as he ages (declining athleticism, defence. ) . I know that return is not ideal, but I am not sure how much more they can get, especially with his no trade clause. Deng, Winslow, Whiteside and 1st rounder sounds way too much for Melo, it's kind of a deal I would take any day. But consider also Knicks going to play POrzingis at C probably.

For SAC, I still believe they get plenty of young talent in return, as well as some good players to compete and/ or bolster bench. And it is easier to re-sign someone who already is a part of organization. (MIA pick next year will be better than this years, as will drat) . Besides, McLemore isn't having a dream start to his career at Knicks, and could use a change of team, some skilled coach at least.

In my opinion you will never get more than two good prospects for a star, there is no point in dealing more assets because you won't have anybody to put around a new star. (Love trade, for example - rather than previous Anthony one) . Moreover if you want to compete now.

Yeah, Melo is rather consistent. Becoming a better team player. And with other options will let longer. What do you think he signed? A 9 year contract. The point was, if the Knicks trade him they will do it only with Miami. They won't add more teams to give up the good assets. It's nonsense. You literally added other teams to give the Knicks role players and take away the two best assets they would have received in Winslow and the 1st. That's why it's ridiculous. We all know the complexity in blockbuster deals. But teams add other teams to benefit others, not to make the return package worse just for the sake of making it a bigger trade.

Melo is not consistent. Shooting 40% from he field and 34 from three? For someone who's getting 20 mill plus? He's on a decline and Knicks can't get as much as they've wanted before for him.

@ Melo's contract, is 5 year, so after this and next season, there are still 3 seasons of 33+ aged Melo. that's toxic in my opinion. and with a cap rising, Melo is no free agent magnet.
