Bad trade for the Knicks. The Celtics could offer something like Smart + Crowder + Future Clippers pick which would be a much better deal. Hornets pick and Marvin Williams go to the Knicks instead maybe.

Biller, the Celtics don't have the cap space to offer anything. They would have to give up Horford to get anything since he's their only large contract. They would leave them with the worst group of big men in the league . Honestly unless the Knicks become willing to take on some bad contracts, the Knicks waive him, or some one gets really desperate Melo is staying in New York. The Cavs aren't trading Love for Melo and the Knicks aren't going to want to take on Jr Smith's contract. Houston would have to give up most of their team to get Melo or the Knicks would have to be willing to take on Ryan Anderson. The Celtics and Clippers found their sfs. Who does that leave?

I don't really understand the salary cap too well but I think there would be a way for them to get Melo somehow. Anyway, this is still a bad trade for New York, regardless.
