If Thibs gets his way and minny focuses on established talent over youth, this is a nice move. Harris isn’t a huge step down from Butler. Beverly is one of the better backup PGs in the NBA. And Gallo isn’t much different than Dieng in terms of negative value, but when he’s on the court he’s much better than Dieng.

I could see minny holding out for Williams instead of Beverly if they have to take on Gallo, but the framework is plausible.

I think its a pretty good trade, i just don't think Clips can unload Gallo for that return. Maybe add a pick?

Clips throw in the protected half of the 2019 pick. 1-14 goes to wolves, 15-30 goes to celtics? Not much of an offer with butler coming into the fold but it's not a bad gamble for the wolves with Harris, Beverly, Gallinari leaving, the clips are still a likely fringe playoff team in the west. Thanx bmiller66, that was my goal to post a trade consistent with the media rumors of butlers reported requests, and thibs wanting to stay competitive. Miami, if they deal the 2019 1st, which they would, and a selection of players with Dieng involved is also a good offer. LA and Miami are leading the sweepstakes so far I think according to rumors.

Galinari is way better than Dieng. If he is healthy, Galinari is nearly worth his salary. Dieng couldn't carry his salary to the bank with an armored car.

Bece et Ky is a better player than minny pg.

That's true Warlock. If Gallo was ever healthy he'd be considerably more valuable than Dieng. But he's played in over 60 games once in the last 5 years.

Would you rather have a guy that scores 15 ppg 45 games a year and doesn't play the remaining? Or an average backup center that plays every game? To me, it's probably a push considering Dieng makes a bit less.

Dieng has also started at PF for a couple of years next to Towns. He has versatility.

I don't think any GM anticipates that a guy is only going to play 45 games a year. Galainari's injuries have been numerous, but he can recover. I saw him play this summer in the Africa game. He looked great. Best player in the game (including Embid, Whiteside, Gay, ect. ) . I have to believe that Galinari is going to play a full season. He might avg. close to 20 pts. Dieng will be lucky to play 10 minutes a game and avg. 6 pts. a game. No comparison.

If you're not factoring in injury history, then you are a complete fool. Assuming a guy that has never stayed healthy will stay healthy is the road to getting fired as a GM.

And yeah, that goes for Embiid too. I would hate to inherit him as a new coach or GM. He's a walking timebomb.

Also, Dieng averaged 10 and 8 for two years before last year. If you expect Gallo to do something he hasn't done for a few years, I would expect Dieng to bounce back from a down year too.
