I also love that cousins gets bumped out of his natural position of center to make way for the well established league star known as whiteside. Before trading away your future, why not have a strategy. Like getting 1 great center and filling the other positions. The guard play would be substantially subpar. That's a major issue.

The thing is, you have 31 million then locked up. You want to sign durant to a 25 million+ contract, whiteside to 20+, chalmers to 7.5. That puts you at the cap right there. Then you want to sign clarkson, which will likely be around 12 million. Resign black and huertes, then fill out the roster, so another 15 million at least.

This isn't a championship team with the subpar guard situation. But yet you want to be 25 million over the cap. LA has money, but this isn't logical. This would lock them up, for better or for worse, for a few years at least.

Also, Cousins could be willing to play pf. that doesn't mean it is a good idea. Just look at the kings record. The lakers should not be trying to sign players just because they put good stats up, they need to build a team.

Additionally, and this is a big one, Cousins and Whiteside. all on the same team. You really don't see maturity issues which absolutely will leak onto the court?

I think the lakers are in a fantastic rebuild situation. They need to do it surrounding their youth, not go for the quick fix and just sell off their youth. Far too many teams make this mistake and ultiatmely restrict the future progression.

Chalmers 7.5 mill
82 million, clarkson gets 5.5 mill first year, black and huertas take vet minimum. So that's at the cap not exceeding it.

I think clarkson still improving, and chalmers being a starter on a championship team with lebron, wade, and bosh would be decent. All I would want from his would be to play defense, pass, and make the threes.
