I tried posting this before, but didn't work for some reason.

LAL: R Westbrook

OKC: D Russell, S Muhammad, L Williams, J Calderon, future 1st from LAL top 3 protected (soonest it would convey is 2021), and a future 2nd from MIN

MIN: J Randle

Lakers get their superstar and his bird rights to help ensure he resigns. Westbrook and Russell wouldn't be able to coexist, so trade him.

Thunder get Russell to be their future PG with a ton of potential, another young scorer in Muhammad, 2 vets for depth and leadership, and a future 1st and 2nd rd pick.

Wolves flip Muhammad and a 2nd rd pick for a potential double double lock. Randle and KAT are 2 former Kentucky players who compliment each other well i think; defense and stretch the floor in KAT and a bruiser who still has some upside in Randle.

LOL Randle and KAT never played together at UK. You are thinking of Willie Cauley-Stein. Not a bad trade but I think the Celtics offer is much better for OKC.

Never said they played together, just that they're 2 former Kentucky players.

What's the Celtic's offer?

Yeah, what hypothetical Celtics offer?

I think in this senario okc may need a little more due to the pick being so far away and taking on Williams and Calderon are negatives, but I like the overall premise.

The hypothetical celtics offer will certainly be better than russell, a nobody in calderon, 2 inefficient players in williams and muhammad and a 1st that is 5 years away if not further.

If okc trades westbrook, they are doing a rebuild. This brings very little minus russell. I have a hard time believing the celtics wouldn't at least offer Jaylen Brown and at least 1 of the nets picks. either the swap or the 2018. both of which are better and FAR sooner than the lakers proposed one.

Thats why okc would say no.

Westbrook not signing extension so Boston would be dumb to do this and Westbrook would leave. Only way if they get Blake and Westbrook. If Boston was to give up a brook pick Westbrook would already be on the Celtics.

New laker dynasty I just read this exact trade online that someone else brought up for real.

For superstar trades without insurance. Lakers gave up bynum and a pick for Howard. Cavs gave up Wiggins and Bennett. But for Melo Knicks gave up a lot because he signed extension. See the point.

True. did you just try to indicate that the Lakers and the Cavs didn't give up much for the star without the extension?

Bynum was traded immediately following his best year. So the lakers gave up a 24 year old center, who just average 19/ 12.AND what I believe is the 2019 unprotected 1st round pick. Rather huge package for a 1 and done howard. I know, I know. using hindsight you can go, oh bynum is injured. Well, that year he wasnt and he was 2nd team all nba. so the package was highly valuable.

Kevin love trade. The timberwolves got anthony bennett (obvious bust, but still, #1 the year prior), Andrew wiggins (many considered him one of the best prospects to come out since lebron and looking like he will meet those expectations), Thadeus young (very very solid starting forward) and a hefty trade exception. To be clear. for the superstar with no insurance, the Wolves got a franchise cornerstone, a solid starting forward, a #1 overall a year removed and a great trade exception.

So what's your point? all that shows is that the lakers need to give much more, because kevin love is absolutely no russell westbrook.

@hamburger,

When the cavs traded "the previous #1 pick, " they had already known that Bennett was a bust. The dude was not going to turn out. Also, Thad young to the wolves was basically a whole other trade. They could have declined Young for a first rounder. They didn't just get him as a throw-in. Basically it was Kevin love for Wiggins (great prospect) and an already known bust who won't turn out.

Also, I agree, Kevin love is no Russell Westbrook. But. The year klove got traded, he was top 10 in points and rebounds. Kevin love is no Russell Westbrook now, but Kevin love when that trade went down had the same if not more value as Westbrook does now.
