Paying Batum $24M next year . $25.5M the year after . and $27.1M the year after that for 9.3ppg, 5.2rpg, and 3.3apg is a terrible idea. Granted Chris Paul's deal is 1000x worse; this gets them further away from a championship.

Batum only has two years left, not 3. He made 24 million this year that just ended. So it would get them out of a bad contract a year early.

That said, yeah, it makes Houston way worse for the next two years at least, and they can't risk that I don't think.
