POR-WAS-NOP

NOP gets John Wall, Bonga, and 1st rd ‘21st via WAS
Sign Saric 1yr/ 10 mil

POR gets Beal, Reddick, and Thomas Bryant
Resign Whiteside

WAS gets POR 1st 2020, CJ McCollum, Jrue Holiday, and Nurkic

I think wall needs a change of scenery and a completely new mindset, he’s more of a slasher 2 guard than he is the conventional point guard if you take the ball out of his hands and have him learn to be more off the ball then you can guarantee a backcourt off him and lonzo would be something else. Even if lonzo doesn’t start, he can learn a lot from Jwall and blossom into a starting PG in the league.

Wall/ Lonzo
Nesmith (#13)/ Walker
Ingram/ Hart
Zion/ Saric
Hayes/ Favors

Dame/ Simons
Brad Beal/ Trent Jr
Reddick/ Hood
Melo/ Collins
Bryant/ Whiteside

Holiday
CJ
Brown Jr
Rui
Nurkic

This team can contend for a 5th-6th seed in the East, if the coaching is on point, every player can play D as well as get up and down the court. Potentially a double digit starting 5.

The Pelicans need 3 more firsts. 2 1sts for taking on Wall and 2 1sts for giving up Holiday and that is probably on the light side.

"Wall needs a change of scenery. " More like Wall needs to get healthy first before he gets some value.

I just can’t see this trade happening. To me, it’s bad for all teams.

1. Pelicans: sure, they get a pick but they also get 40 million. Wall In his prime would have fit great with this team but coming of a gruesome injury, is it really worth the risk?
2. Blazers: They already have a great backcourt. This would definitely be an upgrade. The problem is, Beal needs the ball as much as dame to score which could actually hurt the offense. Bryant played great in the 8 games of the bubble but his defense still isn’t evident. To me, the upgrade isn’t worth it especially given the way nurk has been playing.

Wizards: this is definitely a bit bias given that I am a wizards fan but I try to be realistic. Beal should have been an all star I don’t think anyone is doubting that. And while wall’s contract is awful, he has been the face of the franchise for many years. He still is capable of being a borderline all star. Not to mention, the front office likes him and would unlikely trade him. They also like Bryant.
That being said, if they were to trade wall, they would not want to take nearly as much salary in return which is exactly what they are doing in this trade. Instead of acquiring expiring contracts for wall, they are getting 2 vets who are great but not quite all stars. Nurkic is a good player but he wouldn’t help the wizards in the place they need the most help in, defense. What I really don’t understand is why they would want a late pick if they get the other 3 players. They give a potential lottery pick in a stacked class and get a late pick in a weak class. In the unlikely scenario the wizards would trade beal or wall, it would be to rebuild as opposed to trading for players that would likely get them to the playoffs but not passed the first round.
