If the Wolves were to ever make Wiggins available, what would you be willing to give up to get him?

Great question!

I'm a min fan, and I go back and forth on whether I'd swap him for THE 2017 1st pick in the lottery. Wiggins has easily been the best in his class, and has proven it as the reigning Rookie of the Year. He is still so young (20, right? ) and is an athlete that could be the closer that MIN has never had. On the other hand, though unproven, Simmons has a high upside too, and has two more years of rookie scale,

Should the Lakers, Phoenix or Philly trade for Wiggins if they win the lotery?

Wiggins and Rubio for B Simmons and...?

I'm a philly fan and Wiggins would be a great fit here. Maybe even better the Simmons so a trade would be helpful to us over other teams.

I think a trade could be something like Sixers trade 1st pick in the draft ( Ben Simmons) and Noel.

Wolves trade Wiggins.

Does that seem like a deal minn would agree to?

We've discussed it recently, I see Shrink that you are a bit less sure about Wiggins.
On the other hand, I am more and more certain that MIN should keep hold of him; they are starting to develop some kind of chemistry, and with LaVine finnaly starting, I think it has given Wiggins more space and he has responded with more rounded performances. Also, as a better scorer, seems like a better fit in this MIN team, than Simmons would be. I think greatest improvement for Wiggins will come with him psyhically maturing, especially on D.
I think MIN should aim for Bender in draft, even try to move up a few spots if possible by adding Sabazz (if that does it) to be sure to pick him.

Why not just the first pick for Wiggins, straight up? Why add in players? If I'm the Sixers, I do that. Same with the Wolves. They get that 4 to go with Towns up front, Sixers get their SG. Both were the top picks in the draft. Why complicate it? Who goes away unhappy with a straight up trade?

I think Wiggins and Simmons are very close in value, and the decision which you would prefer will come down to individual team needs more than a giant difference in value.

Wiggins will be a star, if he isn't already, and could be a superstar if he develops the ability to have a killer instinct every game. He is the safer choice, having proven he can, at times, dominate other NBA players. He hasn't been an elite defender yet, but has the physical ability to do so.

Simmons though has plenty of upside himself, and he's going to help whatever team he joins right away, just on basketball IQ. He also will have four years on rookie scale. Wiggins will get a max deal in two years, starting at $21 (which will still be a value), but compared to Simmons who will make $6, and give a team $15 more in cap room, you have to prefer Simmons here.

So like I said, different teams would probably rather have different guys. For MIN, I'm not sure who they'd prefer!

In the history of the Wolves franchise, they have had some good players, but Wiggins may be their first, end of the game scorer ever! And how odd that he would come now, when it looks like Zach LaVine could develop into that same player! Also, most teams would never consider trading their top young prospect, but Towns has usurped that title from Wiggins.

On the other hand, Simmons would be a helpful player for anyone, especially with his passing and court awareness. However, the Wolves only thrive when Ricky Rubio is in that role. I listened to a little of the BOS game last night. Ricky started, took a breather when the Wolves were +14, and when he gets back in, MIN has dropped back 15 points! Simmons would be even more valuable on a non-Rubio team.

How odd is it that traditionally talent-starved MIN is suddenly in a weird position for them, where they have pieces of overlapping elite talent?

Anyway, I think MIN would keep Wiggins over Simmons, since they've marketed him heavily, and they really need to show some progress. I don't think the gap is as huge as it might be for other teams though,

Philly

Wolves will fell like they are moving backwards in that deal of Wiggins for the 1st pick alone. Simmons may be a superstar but to give up the guy they thought was a superstar would hurt the team and fan base. It be like soxers trading okafor for the third pick in this draft alone. Just doesn't make sense. It feels like a delay tactic instead.

It would be Simmons and Noel for Wiggins. That way they can say they are getting a great return. Sixers lose the logjam upfront so that's not terrible for them. Wiggins would instantly make the Sixers credible again.

Westbrook for Wiggins, Rubio and either shabazz or first round pick this year.

I like this discussion. Out of Philly, phx, and Lakers only Philly needs guard help. I think the Sixers would trade Simmons for Wiggins. I think the value is pretty equal. Its a tough call either way, but that's what makes a fair trade.

Shrink, your argument about the Simmons being on a cheaper contract is a poor one. At some point the Wolves have to commit to a player, if they believe that Wiggins can be a superstar, they shouldn't trade a player away who is probably closer to stardom just to get a player who is farther away but cheaper.

The cheaper rookie contract allows you to commit to two players, one with the pick, and the other, hopefully with the additional cap space.

Simmons looks like he's going to be good, but we know that Wiggins is. As such, I'm not giving up Wiggins one for one in a Simmons deal.
