Celtics-Kings

Celtics get Demarcus Cousins

Kings get Marcus Smart, Kelly Olynyk, rights to Abdel Nadar, Boston 2017 1st, Brooklyn 2018 1st, and LA Clippers 2019 1st.

Honestly. I think Boston missed their chance for A trade. The three pick had solid immediate value. Now that the pick is made. That value dropped. The next Brookyln pick is 2018 so that's a wait for sure.

I just think they messed up big time. No trade for that package at least.

I think Kings will or should make a trade with their 5 centers and Cousins seems like the most likely out. So what is a good trade for him then?

Boston has the right to swap their 2017 1st round with Brooklyn's which will more than likely happen.

I agree with TreGib draft picks have significant more value than the player they are selected with since a team has the ability to get "their" guy so Boston missed a significant opportunity to land a big name by not making a trade before the draft. I think a trade now is less likely (I'm sure Celtics got offers or counter-offers but front office ultimately decided it was better to just keep the picks) but not impossible. I'm not positive if Boston deals their 2017 the Kings would still be able to swap it with Brooklyn. If this is the case it isn't a bad deal since 2017 and 2018 picks should both be high lottery selections and Kings aren't going anywhere soon with or without Cousins. If swap doesn't transfer then Boston would be foolish to deal their 2017 pick for anything.

The swap is helpful for sure. But it's a more unknown then what the three pick was this year. Again too little to late. If you threw that pick in with the third pick this year you would of been able to get the deal done. No you have a back up. Great. Ainge missed out man. I'm disappointed.
