The NBA has begun an investigation into the New York Knicks for alleged tampering regarding free agent pickup Jalen Brunson, sources told Yahoo Sports.

The league will look into whether the Knicks made contact with Brunson prior to the start of the free agency period.

Reports emerged days before June 30 that Brunson already had a deal in place with the Knicks. Brunson and the Knicks agreed to a four-year, $104 million deal after New York was thought to be the frontrunner to land the free agent point guard.

Whoops! Contract voided?

although Silver has the power to void the contract the NBA hasn't done that in the past (at least not since Minny's contract with Joe Smith) . and until they do tampering will continue year after year.

2.) 01 Aug 2022 21:20:56
Try to Kings-Bucks Bogdanovic S&T, windrapsfan.

3.) 01 Aug 2022 23:31:12
Fredman kings didn’t the sign part of that trade done.

4.) 02 Aug 2022 12:48:23
Because the investigation started before the Kings were "allowed" to sign BB8. Is it the same? Not exactly, but it is a case of the NBA office disallowing a deal to be done because of tampering.

If the deal is voided, then Brunson falls into the same boat as Sexton?

5.) 02 Aug 2022 16:08:22
If I remember correctly that deal didn't get done because Bogdanovich hadn't agreed to it. In any event I believe the league should get more serious about punishing tampering, but I don't believe they will. NYK and Philly will each lose a second round pick and teams will continue to ignore the rule. If they really want to end tampering they will have to find a way to levy significant penalties on the agents that quietly put these deals together in the dark.

6.) 02 Aug 2022 22:33:06
If they're not going to void deals because of tampering, what about an unpaid suspension for the player (s) involved along with loss of picks for the team? Like multiple firsts. Or give the team some kind of major spending handicap in the next offseason. Reduce their cap or take away bird rights or something. Just spitballing. Tampering is going to keep happening unless they start doing more than taking away a late first or second rounder. It has to be something major enough to spook teams and agents.

7.) 02 Aug 2022 22:42:11
I think tampering (once the season has ended) should be effectively ignored. It really doesn’t hurt anything to plan deals out.

Making deals with players under contract while their team’s season is ongoing is BAD. Discussing deals during the dead period really shouldn’t be anything.

However, according to NBA correspondent, Marc Stein, all teams potentially involved in a trade with the Lakers want both their 2027 and 2029 first round picks. And that can be the end all, be all for LA this summer.

"Seemingly no one wants to make a trade with L. A. without getting back both of the Lakers' two first-round picks they're able to trade (2027 and 2029). The Lakers, to this point, have shown a willingness to surrender only one of the two . and, depending on the trade partner, they figure to seek protections on that pick rather than sending it out unprotected. "

The nba needs to stand firm on the two 1st request let the Lakers waste another season.

Chris Fedor: I’m told that it is close to $40 million in total money. So think of like a three-year, $40 million deal.

Chris Fedor: It’s way less than what Collin initially wanted. I don’t know that it’s the kind of deal that that Collin and his camp would be willing to take.

One scout believes that the Heat would be willing to include big man Bam Adebayo in a deal for Durant.

“If you’re the Heat, you make that trade, even if you need to include [Ben] Simmons, ” the scout told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “If you have an opportunity to get a player like Kevin Durant, you do it. From my relationship with Pat Riley, I believe the Heat would make that trade [including Adebayo] if given the option. I’m not sure that would be enough for Brooklyn. ”.

1.) 21 Jul 2022 04:46:50
Perhaps Sac gets involved for Simmons.

18 Jul 2022 23:48:06
Because King's GM has said that the Kings were not finished with this off-season recently at a media appearance, there is speculation that the King's are involved in either the rumored Durant or Mitchell trades. The primary idea is based upon the need to move Simmons as well. Local media/ Podcaster are suggesting Barnes+Holmes+2nd Rounder for Simmons.

Fredman

1.) 19 Jul 2022 01:19:35
If the Nets are wanting to rebuild by trading KD/ Irving I don’t see them wanting to part Simmons for that, but if they keep both and wanting to shed some salary this could be at least intriguing. Warren can step up into a 3rd option role is he’s healthy.

2.) 19 Jul 2022 04:42:09
I think it's more to move Simmons in order to bring in someone on the rookie designation list in a Durant trade. Bam from Miami?

3.) 19 Jul 2022 06:03:18
Simmons would be an excellent fit with what the Kings have.

4.) 19 Jul 2022 14:51:45
Barnes, Holmes, and a 2nd is probably fair value for Simmons. Are the Nets going to trade him for that? Absolutely not. I get needing to so they can bring in someone like Bam, which would be tremendous if they can get him, but still I don't see the Nets agreeing to fair value for Simmons.

5.) 19 Jul 2022 18:11:04
Nets could very easily be

Westbrook/ Herro/ Barnes/ Bam/ Holmes plus a ton of draft picks.

Next season they clear Westbrook and Barnes off the books and build around a core of Bam/ Herro/ Cam Thomas?

Would calling Sabonis a non-3pt shooting Nikola Jokić be fair?

So should Miles Bridges just take the $7,9 mil qualifying offer for next year that Charlotte still has on the table or take a chance that it gets pulled by Charlotte?

Fredman

1.) 20 Jul 2022 20:45:36
I'm guessing that is he accepted it the league would suspend him immediately so he wouldn't see any money before his legal situation is resolved anyways. He may be better off to wait until his situation is clear (jail time maybe? ) and hope he's viewed in a better light once all the facts are out. If he ends up in jail I think he's probably seen his last NBA cheque regardless of whether he accepts the offer or not.

2.) 20 Jul 2022 21:48:36
Trying to remember if Ron Artest still got paid once he was suspended for going into the stands playing in Detroit?

3.) 22 Jul 2022 22:07:40
Apparently the league can't suspend him until he either pleads guilty, is found guilty at trial, or charges are dropped. Until the legal system is done with him the league can't suspend him. I remember Silver using executive powers to suspend Donald Sterling, but I don't think he can use that power with a player; CBA presides. So yeah, I guess he should take the offer. Might be the last paycheque he gets from the NBA.

"NBA says #Kings forward Keegan Murray has been named the Most Valuable Player of NBA 2K23 Summer League 2022. Murray averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 40.0% from three-point range in four games in Las Vegas. Read more about Murray in"

Guess who just make over $300 on Keegan Murray winning MVP of the Summer League? Don't tell the IRS thou.

Hmm. So, the Kings finished last season with a record of 30-52. Vegas just released betting projection for total win for next season being 31.5 wins for the Kings.

Does a full season of Sabonis and the additions of Murray, Monk & Huerter make betting the over seem like a no-brainer?

Fredman

1.) 18 Jul 2022 17:04:22
Possibly since injuries always happen, but as much as Kings improved other teams have as well and gotten healthy. Clippers get Kawhi PG and Wall this year plus full season of Powell. Twolves added Gobert and solid bench pieces. Pels get Zion Daniels and full season of CJ. Lakers will be healthy and have better/ younger bench, plus they’ll always have good odds even with a not so good past 2 years, Nuggets will have more projected wins with Murray/ MPJ back and adding Kcp/ Brown/ Braun on the wings. I still think it’s fair to have them over their win odds and be projected around 36-38.

2.) 18 Jul 2022 19:23:00
Warriors Nuggets Grizzlies Pelicans Mavericks Blazers Wolves Suns Lakers Clippers top 10 not in order.

3.) 18 Jul 2022 20:52:27
Betting on teams trying to "rest" stars when they play the Kings. There is a history on this.

4.) 18 Jul 2022 22:02:15
Seems like most of the teams in the West hovering around .500 winning percentage instead of a dominate 60+ wins team like inth past.

Also, seems like 1 season-ending injury can take a top contending team in the West all the way the lottery.

Does your source explain how Utah is taking on the additional $3 mil in salary when they are already over the salary cap?

With Hardaway, Dallas is at $165 mil in salary. To get under the $157 Hard Apron Tax in order to execute a S&T, Dallas would have to sign for $8 mil less than Hardaway ($19.6 mil) which would be $11.6 mil. Reportedly, Sexton has turned down $13 Mil per from Cleveland and is looking for mthing in the $20 mil range.

Not sure teams in the Finals are prepared to make offers at that time. They are usually doing close out interviews.

Teams that fire coaches/ GMs should be given time to make hires before FAs can talk deals. The GMs & coaches should have feedback on those players.

GMs/ FOs should not be distracted with FA signings at the same time they are scouting and mock drafting for the NBA draft. Just be focused on one thing at a time.

There has been local rumors of Simmons for Barnes+Holmes+pick to SAC if the Nets need to move Simmons to accommodate another Nets trade.

It's kinda feeling like the Kuzma/ Harrell for Hield trade from last off season.
