Surprised that the Mavs didn't jump in on Drummond when it appeared that expiring deals and a second rounder was enough for Detroit.

Lee+Powell+GSW 2nd.

Fredman

Just got WCS.

2.) 06 Feb 2020 20:20:47
Powell not expiring.

3.) 06 Feb 2020 20:29:01
ddrainer is having nervouse breakdown. Zll yr propose expiring and 2nd and we all mocked him. Now the Cavs are all over over it.

4.) 06 Feb 2020 22:16:06
Curious to see how the opt in/ out, FA period goes for Drummond.

5.) 07 Feb 2020 11:05:15
The most poster? s here are neigther real hoopers nor NBA hardened. Anyway Drummond is a chance and a risk, since he has a player option of 29m next year. I learned Mavs have two reasons not to try out on him.
- Beal may be available for a fair offer in the summer and would perfectly fit @Mavs.
- You can see what a real Center like WCS immediatelly can provide on the defense side but you also the offense side becomes stack or that funny flow goes a bit lost. So I think beside Beal Mavs will have a look on Turner next years and what you can learn from Mavs as well ist patience.
Mavs will have 4 young player after this years draft and 2 1st availalbe to improve and if we seen till a year is gone Beal and / or Turner @DAL it will pretty nice. So we may figure out some nice probosals on that.

Finalley I would have like the try on MKG if the Hornets would have agreed to send him for Lee - but not for a pick.

I guess what I am trying to say is that Dallas coukd have gotten Drummond instead of WCS with that same 2nd round draft pick.

Whiteside buyout and signing with Houston?

Fredman

1.) 06 Feb 2020 13:26:08
I can see Portland doing this to get under the tax line, but that would mean Whiteside giving back 6 M of the 10M he's owed through the rest of the season. He won't recover that signing with Houston. so. how badly does Whiteside want to play and compete in the playoffs?
On the other hand, if Portland doesn't make the playoffs they may pay more and take some savings.

2.) 06 Feb 2020 14:09:22
Buyouts don't directly impact salary caps. The resigned salary is removed from old teams salary cap. That's about it. Buyouts only save actual cash and create roster spots.

3.) 06 Feb 2020 15:17:57
Fredman. I thought that if Whiteside settles for a buyout that is lower than the salary owed, then the savings on what's owed would come off the cap. ie only what's been paid so far this season plus the buyout would count against the cap, but any money Whiteside gave back wouldn't.

4.) 06 Feb 2020 16:44:00
Windrap. Na, it doesn't quite work like that. For example, if Whiteside takes a buyout for $30K less and then resigns this season with Houston for $1 mil. The $1 mil comes off Portland's salary cap (and any luxury tax calculations) while Portland saves $30k in actual salary payments. So its a win-win. Player makes an additional $970K this season while the team benefits with less actual payments and getting below the luxury tax line (or lowering the amount in luxury tax that they pay) .

Which was such a surprise that Iggy didn't get bought out this season.

Report out there that GSW has already rejected a DLo for Wiggons + 2020 Minny first+2020 Brooklyn first offer.

Fredman

1.) 05 Feb 2020 11:39:12
Fredman- I hope ninny trades Kat to sac carmento for heild bagkey 2020 first, 2022 first and 2021 pick swap.

2.) 05 Feb 2020 12:29:31
No gsw rejected wiggins+Brooklyn pick+Houston pick+Minnesota pick. Because Minnesota wants to put protection on the pick. Gsw wanted Brooklyn pick and 2 Minnesota pick unprotected and wiggins.

3.) 05 Feb 2020 14:10:41
Shiller, I am sure that deal will not happen.

Sac trades Bogdanovich, Dedmond + 2020 lottery protected first (2 seconds if not conveyed)

Houston trades Capella + Nene

Kings waive Nene before 2020 guarenteed contract kicks in.

Kind of feel this is an overpay, but its what Houston is looking for.

Fredman

1.) 04 Feb 2020 12:41:09
I would agree that it's an overpay if the 1st were to convey, but that's pretty doubtful. Rumor has it that Houston wants the picks to get Covington, so Bogdanovich really doesn't move the needle.

Saw this one on Fanside and thought it worked.

Kings trade Bodganovich and Holmes

Clippers trade Shamet, Robinson, Zubac and 2020 first rounder.

Fredman

1.) 03 Feb 2020 07:12:08
Clippers might say no. Shamet can be as good as Bogdan.

2.) 03 Feb 2020 12:49:44
Knickjoker, shooting, yea. Playmaking, no.

@obikkel. Now that is an overpay. Not doing a Carmelo to the Knicks deal. Getting Hield or Bagley and Picks. Not Both.

What a horrible deal for NO. You think Randle and Zion can play together?

Knicks would be better to draft and keep Wiseman and assets than getting Embiid. Package Robinson and others to get someone else.

Career 15/ 8/ 1 block versus 16/ 5.5/ 2 assists .

One is 4 years younger so which has hit their ceiling and which still has potential to develop?

One is not due to become a RFA a year from now.

And that is just the players, we aren't even comparing the draft picks.

I wonder which is more attractive.

That was a 2020 lottery pick and a 2022 unprotected pick (from a team with a history of being in the lottery) .

Plus, how likely is Philly going to send Embiid west than to say Miami. Phoenix and Golden State are probably the only WC teams that can get close to that. Assuming offers like lillard for Embiid, AD for Embiid or PG13 for Embiid are off the table.
